Jodie Whittaker's history-making run as the first female Time Lord on the BBC series is coming to an end this year. The actor made the announcement last year, and fans have been busy speculating about who the next Doctor will be.Now Anjli Mohindra, who has appeared in The Sarah Jane Adventures and Doctor Who, has revealed her own excellent suggestions, including aTheWalking Dead actor.

Anjli said: "I think a lot of the people that I'd love to see play that role, have already played a part in the Whoniverse."

The 31-year-old actress said she thought It's A Sin star Lydia West "is an interesting fan favourite".

Lydia is currently the bookies' favourite at replacing Jodie when she steps down from the leading role later this year.

Anjli, who has also starred in the BBC hit Vigil, added: "I actually think that Lennie James would be absolutely incredible.

"I don't know if a lot of people have thought of him but I think he'd be really cool."

"And Vinette Robinson, I think, would also be a fantastic Doctor," she told Digital Spy.

Lennie might be a bit tied up working on Fear the Walking Dead, so would he be able to findtime in his busy schedule to take on the role?

The56-year-old has already starred in the popular police drama Line Of Duty on BBC One when he appeared as Detective Chief Inspector Tony Gates in the first series of the show.

Soap star Danny Dyer has also been added to the Time Lord market after hearing the news of his EastEnders departure.

The actor expressed an interest in playing Doctor Who in 2017 after Peter Capaldi announced his exit from the Tardis.

I think I could do it easy. Id keep my accent, too, Danny told Daily Star at the time.

As Jodie prepares to bow out at the end of this year, current showrunner Chris Chibnall is also handing over the keys to the previous writer Russell T Davies after two final Doctor Who Specials air later on in 2022.

Russell will be making a comeback when the show marks its 60th anniversary.

Discussing his reappointment, Russell said in a statement: "Im beyond excited to be back on my favourite show.

"But were time-travelling too fast, theres a whole series of Jodie Whittakers brilliant Doctor for me to enjoy, with my friend and hero Chris Chibnall at the helm Im still a viewer for now."
