Fear The Walking Dead 601 Recap: The End Is The Beginning – The Series Regulars

We are so excited to be back! When we last saw everyone, they were being split up and carted off while Morgan was left behind to die. From the previews, we get the feeling he was anything but dead. Of course, hes not looking too good with those red eyes of his. He certainly gives Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) a run for his money.

Lets recap!

Warning: Its about to get spoiler-y!

AMC

Season 6 begins with two new characters, one named Walter and the other, a mystery man that ends up beheading Walter for the key around his neck. When Ginny (Colby Minifie) reaches out over the walkie, asking for Morgans head, it was quickly discovered that this man, Josiah LaRoux (Demetrius Grosse) is a head hunter.

Meanwhile, Morgan (Lennie James) has been hiding out, recovering from the way Ginny left him, which was surprising. With walkers that crept closer and his shoulder having bled through from being shot, we werent feeling too confident about him making it.

The first thing that stands out is his red eyes. Were not talking about bloodshot eyes, peeps. His eyes are red as if hed blown the capillaries. More so, walkers on more than one occasion walk right past him due to his festering gunshot wound. A stranger named Isaac (Michael Abbott Jr.) stumbles across him, but Morgan doesnt want him mixed up with his issues or to be mixed up in his. At this point, we just want Morgan to take the help and live. And he does, albeit against his will.

While Isaac does get cornered by Josiah, he chooses to stick by Morgans side, recognizing him from his tapes. Josiah tries to get tricky with him too, telling him that they have a social contract just by interacting right then and there. If that is the case, Isaac has one with Morgan long before this man came around due to taking up Morgans call to help others.

Obviously, Morgan doesnt help strangers anymore since he lost his entire crew and is dying. Still, Isaac refuses to go anywhere without Morgan. He later reveals that his wife is pregnant and in labor. He is trying to get back to her with what hed scavenged and with help.

Morgan eventually reveals that another stranger who has also seen his video saved him from the walkers and then patched his arm up. It was why he was making a safe place in the water tower that hed been staying in. Isaac makes a deal with him. Help him and his family and hed help Morgan and his. Morgan doesnt have many options but to accept. Along the way to Isaacs hiding spot, he admits that he used to work for Ginny until he saw what Morgan was doing. He believed in what he was doing and left Ginnys rangers to pursue it.

Turns out, Isaacs safe place is much better than Morgans. He resides just beyond a dam and inside a dried-up lake. While Isaac has to lead walkers away, Morgan goes in to meet with the mans wife, Rachel, and help her. Since he doesnt attract walkers, he can walk right on through them to the front gate of the place. But, when Morgan falls to his knees and releases a cry of pain, a gunshot rings out from Isaac trying to help him and the two wind up fighting the walkers. Morgan is still a badass with his staff.

AMC

When Josiah finally finds Morgan at the lake, Isaac refuses to allow to him get carted off. He so whole-heartedly believes in Morgans original purpose and needs him to stay alive for others, especially because hea been bitten by a walker. It was before he found Morgan, but he is desperate for him to help not only his wife but others like him. Queue our ugly sobbing! We loved Isaac! Why do the good ones die so soon?

AMC

Morgan and Isaac successfully kill Josiah, and soon thereafter, hear the cry of a baby. While Isaac rushes to meet his newborn baby, Morgan passes out from a mixture of exertion and pain. He awakens later to the bullet being removed from his shoulder and Rachel with her and Isaacs newborn girl. The thing Isaac insisted before his death was that she be named Morgan, and yes, we think thats totally sweet! Seriously, guys! Its freaking inspirational!

AMC

Morgan takes this time to find his purpose once more. Rather than picking up his staff, he takes up a new weapon. The bounty hunters deadly axe. He then leaves the head for Ginny on the side of the road, like one of his boxes from last season. Ginny assures him, over the walkie, that she doesnt need him to be dead for his plan to work. Shell just make everyone think hes dead. Hes fine with that. The old him is dead and gone. Shes dealing with someone new entirely.

The episode ends with two strangers, one of which is spray painting: The End is the Beginning, the title of the episode. Were quite curious about what this means and what in particular it regards. Somebody is supposed to meet them with a key, but walkers are slowly finding them. When they walk off, needing a new place to wait around on their contact, a submarine is revealed. Could this be what the key Morgan took from the bounty hunter whod taken it from Walter go to?
