Magic: The Gathering Teases a Gruesome Crossover With The Walking Dead – CBR – Comic Book Resources

The worlds of Magic: The Gathering and The Walking Dead will collide in the upcoming Secret Lair card drop system.

The upcoming Secret Lair card drop system will mergeMagic: The GatheringwithThe Walking Dead.

The announcement was made on the official Wizards of the Coast Twitch channel, as part of promoting the newZendikar Rising set. The new drop will feature cards with flavor text inspired by the popular AMC series. One such card is a Zombie token card,with flavor text quoted from Rick Grimes in the series' pilot. The image on the card shows a zombie with the lower half of its body missing, calling to mind the walkers on the hit show.

Magic: The Gathering has had cards inspired by other franchises before. Several cards inspired by Godzilla and other kaiju have appeared intheIkoria: Lair of Behemoths set.Magic: The Gathering is set to crossover with fellow Wizards of the Coast propertyDungeons& Dragons in theAdventures of the Forgotten Realms set. The set will go on sale in the summer of 2021.

The Walking Dead is based on the Image Comics series of the same name created by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore and follows several survivors in the wake of a zombie apocalypse. The comics and television show have seen multiple spinoffs and inspired other media, including video games.

Secret Lair doesn't yet have a release date.
