Fans of The Walking Dead long for the days when Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) was still a fixture on the series. His departure left a hole in the hearts of the fandom, and as we wait for any news on The Walking Dead movies that will see Lincoln don his boots once again, it is fun to look back.

Duane Charles Manwiller is the current director of photography for The Walking Dead series. I have told you before that if you arent already following his Instagram page, you really should be. He posts some fantastic BTS photos with great commentary to accompany them.

The photos he posts are generally Walking Dead related, but there are many others from other great projects he works on.

Manwiller has been asked about photos of Rick Grimes, so he recently shared one on his page. This one is of Rick on his bloodied white horse in his final season. This was in a flashback sequence requiring the crew to match frames, so a blue screen was used. The scene featured Rick and Shane (Jon Bernthal) and used what is pictured and scenes from the pilot episode.

This is an awesome photo, and it is always great to see how they create the flashback scenes using older footage.

One of the first photos is a heartbreaking one for fans of The Walking Dead. It is in the graveyard where Jesus was killed. This was one of the times this series totally took me by surprise.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC on February 20, 2022, with part 2 of the eleventh and final season.
