VERY few original cast members from The Walking Dead have survived until season 10.

The AMC zombie drama will return next month after a midseason finale that left fans on a major cliff-hanger.

Darly, Carol and the gang were left trapped underground in a cave full of walkers after a botched mission to chase down the leader of the Whisperers, Alpha.

Daryl has proven himself to be the ultimate survivalist time and time again, having survived wars with the deadly Governor, the cannibals at Terminus and the Saviours headed up by Negan.

In fact, Carol and Daryl are the only members of the season 1 gang still alive and kicking a full decade on from the virus outbreak.

It turns out Daryls continued survival was spelled out by former character Beth Greene, played by Emily Kinney.

Back in season 4 Beth and Daryl grew closer than ever and on one boozy night in episode 11 she delivered some eerily accurate prophecies.

First off she claimed that she would soon be dead, a prediction that came through in the subsequent series.

She also claimed that Daryl would be the last man standing which in the wake of Ricks disappearance has also proven to be correct, as the only male left from the crew who assembled on the farm.

With Michonne set to exit the show this year, Darly and Carol will be the only long-termers holding down the fort, so it seems unlikely either will be killed off anytime soon.

Daryl actor Norman Reedus recently melted hearts after sharing a rare picture of his daughter with Diane Kruger on social media.

Elsewhere, AMC provided a first look at the second half of season 10, tracking Michonne and Virgils search for weapons in an abandoned military base.

Michonne and Virgil are seen making their way into the islands naval base, as promised.

Michonne clutches a torch, wears a blood-stained top and sports a look of horror as she stares into a darkened corner of a room.

Meanwhile Virgil stand behind her, his hand clutching the door.

Could he be about to lock her inside, or is he simply showing her the way?

The Walking Dead will air on FOX in the UK on February 24 and be available to stream on NOW TV.
