THE Walking Dead left fans on a cliff-hanger of deadly proportions at the end of its midseason finale.

Carol let her quest for vengeance get the better of her, giving chase to Alpha while on the hunt for her infamous horde.

She ended up leading the gang into a subterranean trap, tumbling into a cave full of bloodthirsty walkers.

Elsewhere, the traitorous Dante was murdered by Gabriel, while Michonne set off with Virgil to collect weapons from an abandoned naval base.

Now the episode title and synopsis from the midseason premiere have been leaked by US publication Gracenote.

Titled Squeeze, the very name seems to tap into the allied communities newfound constraints as The Whisperers continue to encroach on their territory.

The synopsis reads: "The collected communities are reluctantly respecting the new borderlines being imposed on them."

This would suggest that, at least for now, Alpha and The Whisperers continue to reign supreme in the wake of Carols all too literal downfall.

Viewers can expect to see Hilltop, Alexandria and Oceanside making do without the hunting grounds that were snatched away from them after Carol attempted to shoot Alpha at the border.

The new details come after a first look image at Michonne and Virgil exploring his home island after a trip on one of Oceansides boats.

Michonne clutches a torch, wears a blood-stained top and sports a look of horror as she stares into a darkened corner of a room.

Meanwhile Virgil stand behind her, his hand clutching the door.

Could he be about to lock her inside, or is he simply showing her the way?

Elsewhere, an easy-to-miss clue from season 4 teased Daryls fate as the last man standing from the shows first series.

The Walking Deadwill air on FOX in the UK on February 24 and be available to stream on NOW TV.
