The Walking Dead season 10: Maggie Rhee is the reason behind Dante’s betrayal here’s why – Infosurhoy

THE WALKING DEAD saw the exit of Maggie Rhee last season, leaving fans utterly devastated however it was her exit which brought along the shocking spy story which shocked viewers earlier this year.

The Walking Dead has given fans of the show a tense first half of the season, with a number of shocking reveals and double crosses. However the biggest event of the season so far has to be the reveal that Dante (played by Juan Javier Cardenas) was in fact a secret Whisperer spy. This lead to the tragic death of Siddiq (Avi Nash), before he was ultimately thwarted.

This reveal shocked fans of the franchise as Dante had not been evil in the comic books.

The news brought a lot of suspicion to the different camps in the show, and fans are now on the lookout for any other spies.

However it has now been revealed Dantes drastic character change was in fact down to Maggie Rhees (Lauren Cohan) exit.

Maggies exit was unprecedented in a number of ways, and shook the show up to its core just as Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) exit did.

Recently The Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang spoke to The Hollywood Reporter on this huge change for Dante.

She explained: It came about in a funny way. We talked about introducing Dante as a character a few times over the years.

It never happened. It never felt like the exact right time. Why bring in Dante now? Whats he doing for the story?

She continued: Then, when Lauren was out for a while, it was like, well, we werent going to do that version of Dante. He was on the backburner for us for a bit.

Then we started working on the story of the conflict of the Whisperers in a way that feels new and refreshing, and plays into a cold war feel that we wanted to experiment with.

We got to talking about how people want to inherently trust doctors and people who are educated, even though there are so many sociopaths among high-achieving people.

We started from that place, and then we thought people would be ahead of us But what if we bring in Dante here?

Angela later referred to Dante as a charming rogue in the comic books, and suggested she used this view of him to bring him over to the dark side.

It may not just be Dante who is part of the dark side, unfortunately, as Michonne (Danai Gurira) has come to suspect.

Fans of the show agree, and have recently begun to suspect Jules (Alex Sgambati) may be a Whisperer as well.

After taking the spotlight a little in the first half of the season, viewers have started to wonder why.

Michonne even hinted they may have more spies in their midst when she told Oceanside to be more thorough and vigilant when accepting new members into the community.

Fans of the show commented: Im beginning to wonder whether Jules is also a Whisperer spy #TheWalkingDead.

Another said: #TWD About Jules, like Dante I think she is a spy in the Oceanside!!! This woman showed up by magic too!!!

A third added: Please dont be a Whisperer spy, Jules. @AlexSgambati #TheWalkingDead.
