The Walking Dead season 10 will pay homage to Danai Guriras Michonne by exploring her legacy bosses have confirmed.

Showrunner Angela Kang has revealed that the new series will reflect on the warriors leadership and what her upcoming exit will mean for the remaining characters on the show.

We love Danai, Angela told The Hollywood Reporter. Were so happy for her and the incredible moment in her life and her career that shes having, both in terms of writing and acting.

Were hoping to treat fans to a lot of very cool, meaty stories for Michonne. We have seen her character go through an evolution this year.

We want to continue having her reflect on the ways to handle leadership in this world. What legacy is she going to leave behind for the other leaders and for her family.

Angela continued: Michonne started off as such an isolated individual. Shes become someone who has had a giant impact on the other people in The Walking Dead story.

Thats a story were continuing to build as we speak. Im thrilled we get to continue to work with Danai next year, because shes been an amazing part of the show, and such a rock for our group.

It was announced in February that Danai would be leaving The Walking Dead after playing Michonne since season three.

The actress is set to star in a handful of episodes in the upcoming series before she departs and fans are struggling to cope with the news of her departure.

Danai revealed that shes gearing up to shoot her last episodes, telling NET-A-PORTERs digital magazine PorterEdit: We start shooting soon, so Ill have to start fitting in my workouts.

The 41-year-old Avengers star added: I have a really beautiful family in The Walking Dead. We have pot luck dinners. We go to each others homes. We check in with each other.

The Walking Dead season 10 is expected to kick off later this year. You can watch the ninth season on NOW TV.
