The Walking Dead star explains truth behind Jadis’ connection to Rick Grimes – Digital Spy

Jadis Stokes is one of The Walking Dead's most mysterious characters. She starts off as leader of the Scavengers, speaking broken English, then joins Alexandria speaking normally while using the name of Anne, then saves Rick Grimes from certain death by calling in a working helicopter of all things. Later on, she appears in World Beyond as a seemingly loyal follower of the CRM, believing them to be the world's last hope.

With her loyalty changing so often, it's unclear on whether she's just working with whoever in order to survive, or genuinely a believer in the CRM's cause.

It's also uncertain on whether she truly thinks of Rick as a friend, or whether she used him as a bargaining chip to further her own standing.

"Can it not be both?" Jadis actress Pollyanna McIntosh said on The Talking Dead podcast. "She spent a lot of time with Rick, she has a lot of respect, she had a lot of care for him.

"I feel it was a genuine response to his situation, and then, 'How am I going to save him? How am I gonna get him on [the helicopter]? I'm going to say this, this is how it's going to work'... I don't think she was thinking as far ahead as getting into the CRM. I think she was thinking of getting out, getting to a safer place, and getting him to a safer place.

"And then, like Jadis does, from that point forward, she has to keep doing what's right in her worldview... when she says '[Rick is] valuable,' she doesn't just mean to the CRM."

The Walking Dead: World Beyond wrapped up its second season over the weekend, and it's the entire of the show completely. Although the final episode introduced some game-changing new enemies, it was always meant to be a show with a finite time to tell a tale.
