After seven years in The Walking Dead as Michonne, Danai Gurira is ready to film her final season.

The 41-year-old announced she was leaving the AMC show in February as shes scheduled to guest star in handful episodes for season 10.

However, the actor who appears as one the female leads in Avengers: Endgame is remaining very tight-lipped about her upcoming exit in an interview with NET-A-PORTERs digital magazine, PorterEdit

She said: We start shooting soon, so Ill have to start fitting in my workouts.

Even though she refuses to give fans much information, she was more than happy to share how much she loves her co-stars, calling them more than friends, as they gather outside of work to eat together.

She told the digital fashion weekly: I have a really beautiful family in The Walking Dead. We have pot luck dinners. We go to each others homes. We check in with each other.

Earlier this year Danais new deal with the show sees her return in a limited capacity for only a handful of episodes interspersed throughout the next season.

Danais departure was first rumoured after she was engaged in prolonged negotiations with AMC.

Her exit would be a massive blow for the show, following the recent departure of Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes in season nine who will reappear in a planned trilogy of movies.

Considering Michonne became largely the shows central core following Ricks exit, and as a major player in Robert Kirkmans comics, itll certainly be a challenge for the show if it continues beyond season 10.

Michonne entered the show equipped with two chained-up walkers in season three in 2012 and has been a series regular ever since.

Danais star has been on the rise since starring in Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War last year, with subsequent appearances in Avengers: Infinity and Avengers: Endgame. Shes also set to star in Godzilla vs Kong in 2020.

An exact release date for the next season hasnt been announced yet, but we do know that it is scheduled to start in October 2019.

All of the previous nine seasons first aired in October, and the tenth series wont be any different after it was confirmed on The Walking Dead Twitter account in February.
