Walking Deads Andrew Lincoln Confronts Tragedy In New Movie Trailer – Screen Rant

The first trailer for Netflix's Penguin Bloom sees The Walking Dead's Andrew Lincoln enduring a different kind of tragedy alongside Naomi Watts.

Netflix has released the first trailer for Penguin Bloom, Andrew Lincoln's first film since departing The Walking Dead. Lincoln's career goes all the way back to the mid-90s, with roles on screens both big and small. Despite that, he achieved more global recognition for his role as tortured group leader, Rick Grimes, on AMC's post-apocalyptic series. After nearly a decade, however, Lincoln departed the show. It was then announced that three Walking Dead movies centered around Rick were planned.

In the meantime, Lincoln signed on for several new projects. The first would see him play Australian photographer Cameron Bloom. Equally based on a book (written by Bloom and Bradley Trevor Grieve), Penguin Bloom saw Cameron and his family endure a different kind of tragedy. After his wife, Sam (Naomi Watts) was paralyzed in a tragic accident the family struggled to move forward as she succumbed to depression. Fortunately, hope and solace came in the form of an injured magpie the aiding of which served to bring Sam and her family back to life (in a less zombified fashion). Netflix has since released the first trailer, which can be seen below:

Directed by Glendyn Ivin, the film also stars Griffin Murray-Johnston as Noah Bloom, Felix Cameron as Rueben Bloom, Abe Clifford-Barr as Oli Bloom, Rachel House as Gaye Hatfield, Leeanna Waisman as Kylie, Lisa Hensley as Bron, and Jacki Weaver as Sam's mother Jan. Penguin Bloom is scheduled for a wide release via Netflix on January 27, 2021.

John Atkinson has been a news and feature writer for Screen Rant since late 2018. Before that, he had articles published across a number of different outlets. A graduate of the University of London, John was raised on a small island by television and movies. As such, he pursued a career in screenwriting and film journalism when it became apparent that actually becoming Spider-Man was impossible. John's fondest wish is to one day produce a film of his own. Until then, he's more than happy to spend countless hours just talking about them. John's love of film and television defies genre and sometimes even logic. Nothing is off-limits to his passion - be it Marvel, DC, Rian Johnson's Star Wars, or Tommy Wiseau's latest cinematic offering. Away from screens, John can often be found in a park reading mystery and/or fantasy novels, jumping up and down at various music events, or thinking too deeply about Keanu Reeves' career and why Edgar Wright doesn't have an Oscar.
