Fans of The Walking Dead will be excited to hear that the newest spin off from the zombie series has been announced - and will be hitting TV screens in spring next year.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond is the third series set in the universe of the AMC and Amazon Prime programme, following on from Fear The Walking Dead.

But what's the premise for the show and who stars in it?

When is it on?

So far, no official date has been given yet, just a vague "spring 2020".

What's the big idea?

As The Walking Dead series 10 draws to a close, The Walking Dead: World Beyond will focus on the first generation raised in the zombie apocalypse. Some will become heroes, some will become villains. The show's synopsis says: "In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad."

A new trailer for the series - in which one person says: "We are the last light of the world. We are the last hope" - reveals Emmy Award-winner, Julia Ormond (last seen in BBC's Gold Digger) as a series regular playing the charismatic leader of a "large, sophisticated and formidable force".

The series is created by Scott M. Gimple, withMatt Negreteon board as co-creator and showrunner.

Who is in the cast?

Also joining the shows series regulars in recurring guest roles this season areNatalie Gold(Succession,The Land of Steady Habits) as Lyla, a mysterious figure operating in the shadows on behalf of the cause she believes in;Al Calderon(Step Up: High Water) as Barca;Scott Adsit(Veep,30 Rock) as Tony; andTed Sutherland(Fear Street,Rise) as Percy.

The series will also star Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Annet Mahendru, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston and Nico Tortorella.
