Cambridge rated the best place to survive a ‘zombie apocalypse’ – Cambridgeshire Live

Cambridge has been ranked the best place in the whole of the UK for surviving a zombie apocalypse yes really!

Comparison site SaveOnEnergy commissioned the study which found Cambridge the best with Swansea and Belfast in second and third.

And while the scenario is pretty bizarre their study actually goes into some quite serious detail.

One of the reasons that Cambridge came out on top was because of its access to farmland, with the study believing that there would be a food shortage pretty quickly once the world inexplicably became full of zombies.

And given there's already a "survival farm" (complete with a nuclear bunker) hidden in an undisclosed part of the Cambridgeshire countryside, they might actually have a point.

Talking to the Daily Star, SaveOnEnergy said: "While much of the population believe that a zombie apocalypse is little more than a fictitious scenario, a number of Brits still fear the possibility, with pop culture leading some to believe that a zombie takeover remains a reasonable explanation of how the world might end.

"If in the middle of a zombie apocalypse with access to no food or supplies, farms would be the go-to location to grow crops and be self-sufficient."

The study even went as far as to "analyse land data" to rank every city in the country.

The other main reason for Cambridge's prime survival rating was the availability of solar power, with the survey's researchers looking into things such as outdoor space, recycling centres, wind farms and the number of electric vehicle charging points. All incredibly useful mid-apocalypse.

It comes after research found that zombie horror film fans are better prepared for the coronavirus pandemic than other people.

University researchers said movies such as 28 Days Later and Night of the Living Dead serve as mental rehearsal for actual events.

Of course Cambridge is no stranger to zombies with parts of the popular zombie movie '28 Days Later' actually set in the city.

Although, perhaps somewhat ironically, in the film Cambridge scientists are responsible for releasing the virus which turns everyone into stumbling, rage-filled monsters.
