When it comes to monster killing femme fatales, Terminal Realitys third-person cheese-fest BloodRayne, released on PlayStation 2 and Xbox in 2002, may not come immediately to mind anymore. The first BloodRayne title featured the half-human, half-vampire Rayne, who viscerally gored her way through a 1930s era story that took her from southern Louisiana all the way to occupied Germany. As a member of the secretive Brimstone Society, she battled mutants, vampires and Nazis who were seeking to use the occult to gain power. The first game's main antagonist was the demon Beliar, who had been scattered to the winds and was subsequently being pieced back together by his followers. Of course, she successfully thwarts their plans, defeats the demon and beheads plenty of bad guys along the way. Alongside her super powers of strength, speed, and blood-sucking, were a pair of foldable arm blades used to sever body parts from her opponents.

The second title, BloodRayne 2,was released in 2004 and picked up at roughly that time, nearly seven decades after the first game. In the present day, Rayne finds herself still a member of the Brimstone Society. Sixty yearsearlier, she hunted her father, Kagan, seeking revenge for her family's killing. As it turned out, her vampire father offed himself via grenade while searching for objects known as the Vesper Shards. In the modern day continuity of the game, Rayne continues her mission of destroying monsters as she hunts down many of her half-siblings, many of whom have banded together and are known as the Cult of Kagan.
