Vampire fans, rejoice! If you havent heard, a new TV show based on Anne Rices Interview With The Vampire is on its way! The gothic horror novel from 1976 was famously turned into a movie starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise back in 1994, years and years before Twilightrevamped the genre.

AMC will host the new TV series, which was announced earlier this year. The network actually acquired the rights to other Rice novels as well, including Interview With The Vampire sequels, opening up the potential for a fullVampire Chronicles adaptation on our screens. While we wait for an official first look and trailer, lets get into what we do know about this exciting new project so far.

At the time of this writing, the release date for Interview With The Vampire is simply 2022. Not as specific as you were hoping, we know, but thatll do for now. The new series is set to begin filming in December 2021 inNew Orleans, Louisiana.

Depending how long the production schedule is, we would expect the show to debut sometime between mid and late 2022. For now, however, this is just speculation. Well be sure to update you once we get more information on the release date.

Those looking forward to the upcoming TV adaptation will be happy to hear that some of the cast has already been announced. In the leading role ofLouis is Game of Thrones alum Jacob Anderson, withSam Reid playing Lestat.Bailey Bass will portray Claudia and newcomerKalyne Coleman has been cast for an undisclosed recurring role.

Anne Rice serves as an executive producer, with Rolin Jones as showrunner and Alan Taylor as series director.

An official synopsis for Interview With The Vampire has yet to be shared, but we can assume it will follow the same story as the book its based on. For the most part, at least. Alan Taylor spoke with Den of Geek in September, where he revealed some things will be changed for the TV adaptation:

Rolin Jones has made some changes that I think deepen and do some very intriguing things with the basic story. Were working with the Rice estate and theyre on board with it. I think were carrying the original appeals of the novel, but were also making some changes that make it worth exploring again.

Well be curious to see how these changes are received by fans of the book.

So far, Im certainly interested in this new TV show and hope we get a first look in early 2022. Does Interview With The Vampire have what it takes to become the nextThe Walking Dead for AMC? Well just have to wait and see.
