Morbius : The Living Vampire Cast, Release Date and All We Know About Sonys Marvel Movie – Gamer Rewind

Morbius is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It will be produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel. This film will be distributed by Sony Pictures, which is the second film in the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters.

Morbius initially had a June 2020 release date. But the ongoing pandemic promoted studios to revisit their release calendars. Now, it is scheduled to release on March 19, 2021.

The first trailer Morbius has already been premiered on January 13, which has given us an idea of the story linking with Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film follows Michael Morbius who is a scientist suffering from a rare blood disease.

In an attempt to cure himself, he turned himself into a vampire which he calls as pseudo-vampirism. He gained superhuman abilities with fangs, super strength, and a thirst for blood. Unlike any other vampires, he is not affected by the usual superstitious objects which are used to ward off vampires.

The Morbius movie is led by actor Jared Leto, who plays Dr Michael Morbius. He has previously featured as Joker in 2016s Suicide Squad. He also took to Twitter, where he hinted the films dark tone quoting Because no one else will walk this path, this place of shadows, where we do what must be done, no matter the cost.

The trailer features a scene with Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes, the villain from Spider-Man: Homecoming. This has brought much speculation of the films connection with MCU. But how this will happen remains unclear.

Venom is also a Sony film, so there could be instances where the two anti-heroes could interact within Sonys established comics cinematic universe. But there are no chances of any reference to Spider-Man in the movie.

Morbius is the beginning of Sonys big plans to create their own Marvel Universe based on Spider-Man characters. We wait to see how Sony succeeds in their long-term Marvel movie plans.
