Robert Pattinson Totally Roasted Twilight In The DVD Commentary – Screen Rant

Robert Pattinson has been very honest about his feelings on the Twilight Saga, and wasn't afraid to roast the first film in the DVD commentary.

Although Twilight gave Robert Pattinson worldwide recognition, he has always been quite open about how he feels about Edward Cullen and the overall story of the films, and he even roasted the first one in the DVD commentary. Back in 2005, Stephenie Meyer brought back vampires and werewolves but with different characteristics in the novel Twilight, which introduced readers to a love triangle between vampire Edward Cullen, mortal Bella Swan, and werewolf Jacob Black.

Twilight was followed by three novels New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn and the whole series made the jump to the big screen between 2008 and 2012, with Breaking Dawn being split into two films. The Twilight Saga found its leads in Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner, and while the films gave their careers a big boost, the Twilight experience wasnt exactly the best for them. Many actors have been quite vocal about the highs and lows of being part of such a pop culture phenomenon, but none of them has taken it with such humor as Robert Pattinson.

Since the first film came out, Pattinson has beenvery honest about his thoughts on the story, even saying that a lot of stuff in the Twilight world doesnt make any sense. Some of his most honest moments were preserved in the DVD commentary of Twilight, where he pointed out many details from the story, the characterizations, and even his performance. For example, in the biology class scene, where Edward is doing his best to control himself after catching Bellas scent, he said he didnt actually know they were rolling and he was just kinda cold, pointing out how bad his acting was. Pattinson continued with the self-deprecating humor for almost the entire film, saying he had so many inexplicable facial expressions in this movie and how in one particular scene he was trying to be sexy [...] but just kept cracking up.

Of course, he also fired shots at the story, saying he didnt understand the physics of how the van that almost hit Bella just spins and goes straight sideways and how James didnt kill Bella when she was leaving Charlies house. Pattinson even confessed he left the theater during the premiere when the scene at the restaurant was playing because he couldnt handle it anymore. Pattinson was particularly focused on his sculpted eyebrows during the entire film, making many comments about it, especially how a vampire couldnt look scary at all with plucked eyebrows and a bouffant.

Pattinsons dislike over the Twilight Saga went beyond the story and the physical changes he had to go through. He has often spoken about fan pressure and how that impacted his experience as Edward Cullen, sharing it was weird being part of something you dont particularly like. Pattinson has now changed his mind about the Twilight Saga, especially because the mania has calmed down a lot since Breaking Dawn - Part 2 came out, but it would be interesting to know if he has also changed his opinion on his performance and everything else from the first film.
