Shudders February schedule: vampires, nightmares and love – 1428 Elm

Horror streaming service Shudder knows we had a rough 2020, and they did their part to start 2021 off right with a great January schedule. Now Shudder ups their game with more additions for February, including a new The Last Drive-In special, the second season of A Discovery of Witches, and some 70s and 80s classics.

Feb. 1:

A Discovery of Witches (Season 2) Diana and Matthew have traveled to Elizabethan London in their attempt to find a very powerful witch who can help Diana take control of her magic.

Audrey Rose This 1977 film introduces us to the Templetons and their young daughter Ivy. Eliott Hoover (Anthony Hopkins) begins following them,believing Ivy is the reincarnationof his daughter Audrey Rose, who died in a car accident. Janice Templeton (Marsha Mason) begins to believe Elliott after some strange events involving her daughter. Also available in Canada.

The Queen of Black Magic When a woman thought to be a witch is thrown over a cliff, a man rescues her and suggests that black magic might be a good way to get revenge on her accusers. This 1981 film was the predecessor to the recent Shudder Original. Also available in Canada, UK and ANZ.

Vampires Kiss Nicolas Cage plays Peter, a narcissistic editor who is bitten on the neck during a one-night stand. Already on the edge of insanity,Peter begins to believe that he is a vampire. This 1989 film also features Maria Conchita Alonso and Jennifer Beals. Also available on Shudder Canada.

Feb. 2:

Head Count A group of teens gathered around a campfire do what horror movies have taught us to never do: they recite a mysterious chant. As one might expect, they are joined by a shape-shifting monster hellbent on getting the teens to participate in a strange ritual. Also available in Canada and UK.

Night Tide Johnny (Dennis Hopper) is a sailor who becomes infatuated with Mora when he sees her performing as a mermaid in a carnival. As the two begin a relationship, he starts to believe that she may actually be a true mermaid. This 1961 film has been compared to Carnival of Souls. Also available in Canada.

The Whispering Corridors Trilogy This Korean horror trilogy is based on urban legends in South Korea. In Whispering Corridors, a former student returns to her private school as a teacher, and ghosts begin to make themselves known.

In Memento Mori, Soh Min-ah finds a diary written by a lesbian couple who were bullied. After one of them kills herself, Soh Min-ah starts to experience supernatural events.

In Wishing Stairs, two best friends become estranged due to a ballet contest. Jin-sung wishes to win the competition, but her wish backfires. All three films will also be available in Canada.
