Stranger Things fans think Eddie might return as a vampire in season 5 – Netflix Life

Joseph Quinn is undeniably one of the breakout characters from Stranger Things season 4 thanks to his lovable and charming portrayal of Eddie Munson. But fans now think he might take on a new form if he comes back for Stranger Things season 5.

Heavy spoilers ahead for Stranger Things season 4 part 2

We know that Eddie dies at the end of season 4 part 2, but Quinn has already said a few times that he is open to the idea of returning, in fact, he would love to. However, Matt and Ross Duffer have confirmed that Eddie is definitely dead.

But what if there is still a way Eddie could come back in Stranger Things season 5 in a pivotal role?

Hollywood Life provided a great breakdown of the fan theory running rampant on social media. It started with a TikTok user named @paulruddfanclub discussing a Dungeons & Dragons character named Kas, a vampire who became one of Vecnas top lieutenants but ultimately betrayed and then killed Vecna in the end.

Eddie was bitten by demo-bats while in the Upside Down, thats how he died. Its possible that after being bitten and dying, he would then be resurrected. Kas is a resurrected leituenant and in typical vampire lore, vampires die first as humans and then return to life.

You might recall that Steve was bitten by demo-bats earlier in the season, but Steve didnt die, hence why he wouldnt turn into a vampire. And since vampires are technically dead, the Duffers wouldnt be lying in saying so.

Adding more weight to the theory is the fact Kas was actually mentioned in season 4 very early on.

Per Hollywood Life:

The theory begins by referring back to the Hellfire Club scene in the season 4 premiere when Mike, Eddie, Dustin, and the lot are in the middle of an intense discussion about Dungeons & Dragons. Mike yells thatVecnawas killed by Kas the Bloody-Handed. So it was thought, my friends, Eddie told the group.

Theres also a scene where Max talks about staking Vecna, like a vampire.

Unfortunately, while this is a great theory that is inline with the shows love of referring to Dungeons & Dragons, its probably not true.

For starters, Quinn told Variety that he was not optioned for another season.

I was told very little at the beginning. The Duffer Brothers told me that I would be in at least four episodes, but I wasnt optioned for another season, so I thought maybe if I did all right, they might invite me back. That didnt work, clearly! Sothey killed me, but thats OK, I guess. Ill dust myself off!

If he was going to return as a vampire, surely they would have signed him on for additional episodes, unless they were waiting to see fan reactions to his character.

The Duffers did say that Eddies death would have a big impact on season 5, but that doesnt necessarily mean hell be resurrected. Plus, when asked about Steve and his demo-bat bites, Matt Duffer claimed he only wrote that in because he has a personal fear of bats. That doesnt sound like someone planning ahead for a demo-bat/vampire storyline.

Still, you never know. The writers room doesnt officially begin until the start of Augsut, maybe the Duffers will reconsider their plans now after seeing how popular Eddie is.
