The Witcher 3 has a large sprawling world full ofchallenges that the player must overcome, and Blood and Wine only expands upon this well-crafted world by adding new challenges for the player to face. Occasionally, the player will run into challenges in Blood and Winewhere they may need a few tips so that they can stay afloat while battling the Vampire menace.

Before entering Toussaint and starting the Blood and Wine DLC, the player should make sure that they have made the necessary preparations so that they will be ready to take on all of the challenges that the DLC throws at them and experience the other parts of the expansion pack that are well-hidden.
The Blood and Wine DLC officially starts at level 35, although players are able to start playing the expansion pack prior to reaching this level. It is much more difficult to defeat the powerful vampires and other creatures that are found within Blood and Wine if the player hasn't reached the set level.
Even though it is completely possible to complete Blood and Wine while under level 35, the player should not attempt to do this as it will be much more difficult, and enemies in the expansion pack do not scale to the player's level.
Prior to entering the beautiful landscape of Toussaint, the player should make sure that their Geralt is decked out in the most powerful gear possible since this expansion pack has a considerable leap in difficulty when compared to the main game.
If the player hasn't completed many side quests and, as such, hasn't earned a lot of strong weapons and armor, then they should consider buying them from Blacksmiths and Armorers that are found throughout the world.
Although this may seem like a no-brainer for some players, completing every side quest isn't on every player's agenda since it can be time-consuming and there are a lot of side quests in the main game that aren't very fleshed out story-wise.

However, the side quests in the Blood and Wine DLC are much more interesting than in the main game. Furthermore, the side quests in Blood and Wine often give players different pieces of furniture that they can use to customize Corvo Bianco. Make sure to read every message board so that Geralt can experience every adventure that the DLC has to offer.
The tombstones that are found in the different graves throughout Toussaint are hilarious, and a lot of players completely missed them because they aren't relevant to any quests.
These tombstones usually reference the lore found in The Witcher 3 and especially in Blood and Wine, and they usually have humor thatisn'tfoundin the rest of the game. Although this tip won't help players defeat the powerful monsters that are found in the expansion pack, this is something that every player needs to experience while they are traveling throughout Toussaint.
To craft Vampire Oil, the player will need to have 4 Ducal Water and 2 Dog Tallow. Vampires are plentiful throughout Toussaint, and they are very relevant in the main story of Blood and Wine.
As such, the player should come prepared to fight Vampires with Vampire Oil, which can be crafted using the recipe above. Vampire Oil is especially important if the player is completing the DLC on the Death March difficulty since the damage boost will be essential to defeating the Vampire menace.
The Death March difficulty is challenging, but with challenge comes reward. The Death March difficulty is even more enjoyable while traversing the landscape of Toussaint since the enemies found in the countryside are some of the toughest in the entire game.
The boss fights, in particular, are much more fun on the Death March difficulty than any other challenge in The Witcher 3.Players that are itching for a challenge should consider turning on the Death March difficulty, even if they didn't use it during the main game.
The backstory of the vampire Regis isn't key to enjoying the Blood and Wine expansion pack, but since this character is so relevant during the main story of the DLC, players should do a bit of researchon him and the role that he played in Geralt's previous adventures.

Although a lot of The Witcher 3 players won't be familiar with Regis since he didn't appear in the game itself, he has aided Geralt numerous times in the past and they are longtime allies.
Without spoiling exactly what happens, there's a point in the DLC where Geralt's chosen love interest will meet him in Toussaint. This doesn't change anything about the main questline of the DLC, but it is important that the player chooses their favorite love interest since they will appear during the expansion pack.
It is also possible for a few other characters to appear into Toussaint, depending on Geralt's choices that were made during the main questline.
Anna Henrietta is a fascinating character, and she's one of the strongest leaders in The Witcher universe. Despite how Anna Henrietta has a nice personality, she can also be hot-headed and is easily annoyed by peoplewho disrespect her.
Since Anna Henrietta is one of the key characters in Blood and Wine, the player should be careful about what they say to her since it will have a major impact throughout the rest of the expansion pack. Furthermore, the player should be careful about the choices they make surrounding Anna Henrietta and her family.
Corvo Bianco is one of the best parts of the DLC because it finally allows Geralt to settle down and have his own piece of land. There are many different upgrades that the player can buy for Corvo Bianco and it is important to do this early on since there are a bunch of upgrades that will improve the player's skill. For example, the Library upgrade can boost the amount of XP that Geralt earns.
