Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator would make Willow bisexual in remake – Metro.co.uk

Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon has admitted that, given the chance to mount a modern-day remake of the show, he would make the character Willow (Alyson Hannigan) bisexual.

Willow was an integral part of Buffys (Sarah Michelle Gellar) Scooby Gang, and was part of a landmark episode during the shows fourth season when she fell in love with Tara (Amber Benson), who became her girlfriend.

From that point on, Willow would identify as gay, despite being attracted to males in the first three seasons of the show.

Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, Joss says that some of the confusion regarding Willows sexuality would be cleared up today, since he was pressured to not make the character, over fears her same-sex attractions would feel like a phase.

There are you things you cant do, thanks to [the society at the time], the Marvel director explained.

It [was] like, OK, you cant make Willow bi, you cant say this is a phase, because thats what people do to deny their existence.

Joss continued: So, if I did it now, Id be like yes she can be bi. Because some people are! But back then it was like, nowere not ready for that.

Willow actress Alyson also recently opened up about her audition for her star-making role, where she accidentally walked into a door.

We are, of course, living in unprecedented times right now and Buffy herself Sarah Michelle Gellar has even told fans to beep her since, you know, that the apocalypse is coming.
