Buffy The Vampire Slayer tipped to join Disney Plus – The Sun

DISNEY Plus has hinted it is about to release Buffy The Vampire Slayer in the battle for streaming supremacy between Netflix and the new service.

One subscriber reported that the Mickey Mouse giant has been sounding out subscribers over email by asking them whether they'd watch.

Buffy, which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar as 'slayer' Buffy Summers, was a huge hit in the UK from 1997 to 2003, when it aired on BBC Two.

A Disney Plus subscriber posted a picture of their survey question on Twitter asking them to rate their interest on a five-point scale from 'would watch' to 'wouldn't watch'.They wrote: "So Disney + is contemplating putting FIREFLY and BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER on its channel? Strange but welcome!"

Other shows including the survery included Firefly, Modern Family, Black-Ish, Malcolm In The Middle and Modern Family.

Fans were very excited about the prospect of Buffy returning, with one raving: "Buffy and Firefly both in the same sentence - I'm all over this."

Another wrote: "Look, I use Netflix - and its good. I use Disney+ - and its good. But I will SELL MY SOUL to the first streaming service that allows me to watch Buffy and that is a threat."

Disney's new service launched in the UK on Monday night offering a massive range of films and shows from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars.

Costing 59.99 a year, it is similar to both rivals offerings Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, though at the moments is subscriber base is considerably smaller.
