‘Discovery of Witches’ vampire and witch lovers unite to watch this gripping show – The Connector

Sundance

I have heard from some, including fans, call Discovery of Witches an adult Twilight. This is wrong. I love Twilight, but it doesnt have the depth of Discovery of Witches. We need to stop comparing every new show with vampires to Twilight, which puts the bar so very low.

If I havent scared you away, Discovery of Witches is in its second season, which released last week and is fabulous. It can be watched on most streaming platforms with one new episode released each week.

The show is an adaptation of Deborah Harkness All Souls Trilogy. The television series takes its name from the first novel by Harkness. Having read the novel, I was nervous; its very easy for the production company to ruin books. Thankfully, Discovery of Witches adaptations were handled with care. There are some differences, but they cover the major points and important details. The characters remain rich and even the actors resemble the book descriptions.

There is something for everyone in this moody London-set show. Are you a history buff? Youll love it. The vampire, Matthew, and the witch, Diana, talk a lot about famous and underrated events, people and art. Are you a vampire lover? Matthew is a slight twist from your average Dracula, but he is still a great improvement from Edward Cullen. Are you a romance lover? Witch lover? Or even a suspense lover? Discovery of Witches checks all the boxes without being overwhelming. Its a show to satisfy the whole spectrum of the vampire-lover crowd while still maintaining its own linear story.Knowing that, how can you not watch?
