Every Popular Couple From Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Officially Ranked – TheThings

When thinking about epic television series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer will always be one of the first that comes to mind. While its effects are certainly dated and the vampire thing has been done many times since the show wrapped, Buffy and the rest of the scoobies made sure their series would live on in the history books forever. Not only did Buffy herself give a new name to butt-kicking leading ladies, but the fact that she show featured so many diverse relationship, was truly groundbreaking.

Today, we have pulled 15 of the most memorable couples from the show and ranked them from worst to best. While some of these flings may have only lasted an episode or two, any true Buffy fan out there will understand why they made the cut.

While the Buffybot would go on to serve other purposes throughout the series, we cannot forget how the robot came to be in the first place. Spike's obsession with Buffy lead him to force Warren into making him a replica. We all know what it was for and yes, it was the worst/creepiest 'relationship' of the series.

These two were obviously never an actual couple, but Xander did brieflythink they shared a connection. This was obviously because Faith took his V-card. However, directly after that event, she dumped him like yesterday's trash. To make matters worse, she went on to assault him not too long afterwards. Not as creepy as the Buffybot, but not far.

We have nothing but the utmost respect for Joss Whedon's insistence on having LGBT characters within the Buffyverse. However, Willow and Kennedy's relationship always seemed forced. After all of the epic love stories Willow had already gone through, Kennedy never really stood a chance. When looking back, their relationship is pretty forgettable.

As much as Buffy wanted a normalrelationship and as much as we truly wanted that for her, she and Riley were simply never going to make it in the long-term. He is a mortal and shea Slayer. It may feel good to blame Spike's medling for their downfall, but these two wouldn't have made it anyway.

We knowthat Willow's crush on Xander developed before the series even started, but we are just way too attached to them as best friends to ever consider their 'romance' a good plotline. Not only are they one of the best duos to ever appear on TV, but when they did finally kiss, our hearts broke along with Oz's and Cordelia's. Not cool!

Were Spike and Harmony one of the show's great romances? No, they were not. However, they were pretty funny. The fact that Harmony was turned into a vampire and kept around as a secondary character, was already funny, but pairing her up with the totally uninterested Spike was downright hilarious.

During the season three episode "Band Candy," Joyce and Giles both eat cursed candy whichreverts their minds back to their teenage days. Already, that's a pretty awesome plot, but add in their crazy-teen love affair and you've got yourself a Buffy classic. It's hard not to ship these two, since they're both so important to Buffy.

Xander made Cordelia a more likable character. While she did play an excellent mean girl (and continued to do so even while they were together), their romance did level her out a little bit. She really did love him for a time and honestly, in the end, she deserved better than what she got.

There are truly no excuses for the unspeakable things Spike did to Buffy. However, even he, a blood-crazed vampire, felt tremendous remorse for his actions in that unforgettable bathroom scene. Buffy wanted more and we wanted more for her, but at the end of the day, the Slayer will always have trouble finding true love and Spike deeply and truly loved her. Also, they literally brought a house down together!

While some people will surely be surprisedthat these two are not in the top spot, we do have our reasons. Their romance was truly groundbreaking and it opened doors for other shows to feature gay couples as well. However, Willow was always the better part of this duo. Amber Benson's acting was simply no match for Alyson Hannigan's.

Oz had to be written out of Willow's life so that she could explore her sexuality and to give her an opportunity to meet her soulmate, Tara. However, before the gang headed off to college, Oz and Willow had an amazing love story. The fact that he was the first to see her and want her, was everything during those beloved high school episodes.

While Buffy suffered themost throughout the series, Giles is a pretty close second. The way Jenny's death played out was brutal for Giles and for us. Giles had met someone who he could tell everything to and she would understand, being from a magical background. Their relationship was tragic, but some of the best romances are.

Let's head back to a time before Spike had a chip and was totally obsessed with Buffy. When he first entered the show, he was very much a villain and he was very deeply tied to Drusilla romantically. He would have devoured the world for her. She may have ultimately left him, but we'll never forget their glory days as a couple.

When we say they had it all, we're talking about the humor, the emotions and the tragedy. For a show like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, that is everything we want from its couples. Not only did these two slay their number in the musical episode, but their entire storyline was pretty much perfect. If we could change anything, it would begiving them a happily ever after.

Angel and Buffy have one of, if not the, best television romance of all time. The way they loved each other but could not be together, still brings a tear to our eyes. These two were made for each other, but any moment of happiness shared between them would cause Angel's soul to disappear once again. Romeo and Juliet have got nothing on these two.
