New Interview With The Vampire Adaptation For AMC Will Begin Filming In December – Comic Years

The upcoming Interview With The Vampire adaptation on AMC is set to begin filming in New Orleans this December. The show is based on the popular books by Anne Rice, who acts as executive producer alongside her son Christopher. Recently we learned who would be playing the famous vampires of the first book. Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones) will portray the tortured vampire Louis. And Australian actor Sam Reid (Belle) will bring the vampire Lestat to (undead) life.

Acclaimed director Alan Taylor ofGame of Thrones andThe Sopranos is onboard for the newInterview With The Vampireadaptation as well.In an interview for Collider, Taylor discussed bringing the iconic book to the small screen.

I have a personal relationship with the book I read Interview With the Vampire, and I just loved it. It gave me this feeling, which I think is the main thing I took away from the book, which is, every other story youve heard about vampires is kind of BS, and heres the truth. This is the reality. This is what it would really be like.

According to Taylor, the series will be limited to seven or eight episodes. It is unclear if he will be directing the entire series, but we know that Taylor will at least be in charge of the first episodes direction.

This new adaptation is also a launchpad for all of the other Anne Rice titles that have been optioned by AMC. Interview With The Vampire will start an ongoing series that follows the lengthyVampire Chronicles books by Anne Rice. There are certainly plenty of stories to choose from, with 14 books in the series that is still ongoing. It will also open up avenues for other books by Anne Rice that are waiting in the wings for adaptation. Among these titles is her popular Mayfair Witches series that has also been optioned by the network.

Alan Taylor certainly seems excited to take a crack at adapting Interview With The Vampire for AMC. He says We have a great Lestat and a great Louis. And Ill try and bring some of the stuff I loved about the novel into the show.

Interview With The Vampire is currently due to air in 2022. Filming will begin this December in New Orleans, the longtime home of author Anne Rice and the predominant setting for much of her work including the Vampire Chronicles. The city of New Orleans is as much of a character in the books as any vampire, so were glad to see they cast appropriately by filming in the city where the stories take place.
