The Vampire Diaries concluded with eight hit seasons. The series aired to March 10, 2017, with events from September 10, 2009. The manufacturers of the supernatural teen drama had announced that the eighth installment, comprising 16 episodes, will be the concluding season of the series. After The Vampire Diaries started streaming on Netflix, the shows popularity touched on the sky, leaving the viewers demanding for year 9. Therefore, the renewal of the show is being planned by the producers.

The show aired for a total of eight seasons. The first installment arrived in 2009 and was followed by every season with the annual gap. The last came in 2017. It is one of those most-watched series to date. The show had not just one but two of its spinoff Legacies and The Originals.

The show centers on Elena, a high-school girl who loses her parents. When two brothers the Salvatore brothers, enters her life becomes helpless.

The epic romance of Delena [ Elena and Damon] or to get Stelena lovers [Stefan and Damon] had gripped the audience to date, making the lovers still holding up to the expectation of a fresh season when the last season gave close to each character.

In the season, Stephan dies attempting to save his brother Damon and killing Katherine. Elena and Damon finally get a happy end with the love interest dead of Bonnie [ Enzo] and Caroline living with Alaric to take care of their daughters [later died]. They end up opening a college for supernaturals, specifically Salvatore Boarding School.

The cast of this series has taken up new projects and wont return if another season is renewed. Ahead of the release of season 8, Julie Plec had confirmed it would be the last season. There isnt any new season.
