Vampires season 2 Netflix release date: Will there be another series? – Express.co.uk

Vampires season 2 only dropped on March 20 but the Netflix show was lauded by fans already. The coming-of-age series is made up of six episodes which are all about 40 minutes long, and they are all available to watch now. Here is everything you need to know about whether a second series is in the pipeline.

Fans of the Twilight saga and Vampire Diaries are bound to love this new series which is set in a world where vampirism is caused by a mutated gene.

As the first series was only released on March 20 it is too early to say whether a second series will be going ahead.

The renewal of the series will be dependent on the viewing figures for its debut, but with families being confined to their homes at the moment, streaming numbers are up for Netflix.

If a new series was to be given the green light, fans probably won't see it for at least another year as plenty of time will be needed for casting and filming.

Fans will have to watch this space to see if a second series is given the go-ahead.

In the first season Doina, a Paris teen who is half human and half vampire is one of the main characters, and she is played by Oualaya Amamra.

In the series she learns how to control her urges and find out more about life as a vampire - by the end she is fully immersed in the world of vampires.

She could return for a second series as fans will be wanting to find out more about her ever-changing love life and how destroying a community has impacted her life.

Her love interest Nacer (Dylan Robert) could also return as he is part of the love triangle alongside Ladislas (Aliocha Schneider).

There are plenty of avenues for the creators to explore between these three characters is a potential new series.

As the new series has only just come to an end it is difficult to predict what may happen in a second series.

The synopsis for the final episode of season one says: "Doina seizes on a way to placate the community and salvage her family's future. Andrea's (Mounir Amramra) search for Elise yields an unsettling discovery."

At the end of the series, Doina's human father Redouane, who is now a vampire, reappeared and Andrea comes face-to-face with him.

If a second series goes ahead it will most likely look into what caused Redouane to end up this way and why he has come back.

As a second series has not yet been confirmed there is sadly no trailer for fresh episodes at the moment, so fans will have to keep an eye out.

A trailer for the first series is available to watch on Netflix now for viewers who have not yet seen it, and there are some intense moments.

Doina is heard saying: "I think I'm becoming one of them [a vampire], like mum, like the others."

Her brother assures her she does not have the gene and they are like their human father, not their vampire mother.

The series shows how her thirst for blood becomes more uncontrollable as she succumbs to the vampire world.

The French teen drama explains how the existence of vampires is a result of a viral outbreak and genetics, and Doina has the vampire gene.

Her human father created medication for her to curb the vampire side of her DNA, but she comes off her medication and experiences a taste of life as a vampire.

She has what some vampires could consider the best of both worlds as she has the strength of a vampire, but can still walk in the sun.

Because of her unusual abilities, she is highly desirable to a secret community of vampires who pose a threat to her.
