Why I’m Addicted To Vampire Romance By Mel Teshco – FemaleFirst.co.uk

What is it about paranormal romance that draws us in? Is it the appreciation of a world where there is even more to it than us mere mortals? Imagine if dragons, werewolves, fairies or even vampires walked among us. Yes, rather unlikely, but its an appealing thought, and one that transfers perfectly to the page. Theres a good chance that if a reader loves paranormal romance, theyll also love a good vampire yarn.

Existence

Probably because us imperfect humans are attracted to these even worse flawed characters, even as were attracted to the unnatural beauty and power of heartless (literally) creatures whose only weakness might be the sun and decapitation, or even garlic and the holy cross. Or perhaps we love that no vampire story or character is the same. Some vampires can walk in daylight and even sparkle, some do have a heartbeat and still others feel pain like any human. But one universal theme that remains mostly unchanged is a vampires urge to drink blood.

In my story, EXISTENCE, Alexander isnt a vampire, but he might as well be one. His whole life revolves around his vampire masters need to drink his blood and be given an allocated few drops of his masters blood in return. Alexander loathes his forced existence and at times secretly yearns for deatheven as the vampire blood stops him from ageing. Hes bound to the vampire by the miniscule fix of vampire blood. Nothing can compare to the intense buzz of powerful wellbeing.

Then his master brings another donor into his nest (the top floor of a Sydney high-rise apartment), distracting Alexander from his relentless blood cravings. Maya isnt just beautifulhes met plenty of other donors who are just as gorgeousher inner strength and poise is incredible. Shes not sobbing or pleading with his master to release her, shes quiet and withdrawn and seemingly taking everything in.

Right away he knows shes different from the other donors who have lived and died in the nest. Maya is a fighter wholl do anything to escape, even if that means using him to help her get away. Except escaping means there is no more vampire blood. And no vampire blood means having withdrawals so severe it takes everything within just to survive.

Being on the run with a beautiful girl isnt without its own complications. Soon enough theyre sharing more than an urge to survive, and their fears and their doubts dissolve, if only for a short time. Their passion doesnt come without its own price. Losing one another is a bigger fear than being trapped for an eternity with a blood sucking vampire.

Whatever their future brings, they know theyll face it together, or die trying.

Blurb

Escaping the nest of their vampire master is an amazing triumph. Surviving will be the greatest challenge of all.

Alexander.

Ive been a blood slave to my vampire master for forty-six years. My rare blood makeup gives my master the perfect nutrition. My addiction to the couple of drops he feeds me in return ensures I have no compulsion to leave. Im a willing blood donor, an immortal slave. Then my master brings yet another blood slave to his nest, and I cant tear my eyes away from her.

Maya.

I cant believe Ive been kidnapped. I definitely cant believe vampires are real. But I soon learn theyre not just real, theyre cold and brutal, and will do anything for their bloodlust. Everything within me burns to escape, and if I have to use the other blood slave to do just that, I will. If Im all too quickly seeing past his addiction and good looks to the man beneath, thats just too bad. Survival is my focus. Love and desire have no place in this nightmare Im living. Do they?
