A man was charged with aggravated burglary and assault after allegedly threatening his father Thursday night at a Regent Drive home.
David Phillip Mullins Jr., 49, allegedly threatened to attack and kill his father after entering the home despite being told he was unwelcome. Mullins allegedly ran with a knife in his hand toward a bystander who attempted to intervene. The bystander, who was not charged, allegedly hit Mullins in the head with a wooden stick in self-defense. A stunned Mullins was found by police lying on the home's front porch bleeding.
Mullins, who is listed as "homeless" on the Bedford County Jail intake list, was treated at Tennova Healthcare-Shelbyville and jailed on $70,000 bond.
A substance suspected to be marijuana by a police officer was described as "CBD stuff" by a man arrested for possession of a schedule VI drug Thursday.
Billy Ray James, 39, of Ritch Lane was stopped for running a traffic light Thursday on Lane Parkway. Officer Ramon Castillo said he smelled marijuana in James' vehicle, searched it and found a container with .04 grams of "some green leafy substance resembling marijuana."
James was told the substance wasn't stored or labeled properly as CBD and a field test was positive for marijuana. He told Castillo he had mixed CBD and marijuana in the container but continued to claim all found Thursday was CBD, James posted $1,000 bond.
A man was accused of stealing a television from a Cherokee Drive home left behind a cellphone -- and the victim was able to see multiple messages to a potential buyer including photos of the TV.
The potential buyer sent his number to the cellphone thinking he was contacting the seller, police said. The suspect was in Coffee County, the report said. He had not been charged as of Friday.
Also reported to area authorities:

The issuer was able to stop the transactions, which included a name and phone number from Maine.
