A man was charged with aggravated burglary and assault after allegedly threatening his father Thursday night at a Regent Drive home.

David Phillip Mullins Jr., 49, allegedly threatened to attack and kill his father after entering the home despite being told he was unwelcome. Mullins allegedly ran with a knife in his hand toward a bystander who attempted to intervene. The bystander, who was not charged, allegedly hit Mullins in the head with a wooden stick in self-defense. A stunned Mullins was found by police lying on the home's front porch bleeding.

Mullins, who is listed as "homeless" on the Bedford County Jail intake list, was treated at Tennova Healthcare-Shelbyville and jailed on $70,000 bond.

A substance suspected to be marijuana by a police officer was described as "CBD stuff" by a man arrested for possession of a schedule VI drug Thursday.

Billy Ray James, 39, of Ritch Lane was stopped for running a traffic light Thursday on Lane Parkway. Officer Ramon Castillo said he smelled marijuana in James' vehicle, searched it and found a container with .04 grams of "some green leafy substance resembling marijuana."

James was told the substance wasn't stored or labeled properly as CBD and a field test was positive for marijuana. He told Castillo he had mixed CBD and marijuana in the container but continued to claim all found Thursday was CBD, James posted $1,000 bond.

A man was accused of stealing a television from a Cherokee Drive home left behind a cellphone -- and the victim was able to see multiple messages to a potential buyer including photos of the TV.

The potential buyer sent his number to the cellphone thinking he was contacting the seller, police said. The suspect was in Coffee County, the report said. He had not been charged as of Friday.

Two motorcycles were stolen from a barn at an Old Nashville Dirt Road hone between Tuesday and Thursday, a Bedford County deputy's report said.

They are described as a red and white 2005-07 Honda CRF 100 and a green and purple 1997 Kawasaki KX80.

A resident of the homeless shelter on Hickory Drive told police $20 and personal cards were taken from her wallet.

A $3.61 charge was made to a stolen debit card and a fellow resident was named as a suspect, the police report said.

A bag of prescription medication was stolen from a vehicle between noon-4 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim said she had been several places in Shelbyville but thinks the vehicle was entered at Tennova Medical Center-Shelbyville.

A cellphone was taken from a charging station at Shelbyville-Bedford County Public Library between 1:45-2 p.m. Tuesday.

A pistol was stolen "seven or eight months" ago from a home on Bryant Road, a Bedford County deputy was told Wednesday.

A suspect who regularly visited the house was named.

Two teenage boys allegedly removed cell phones and ear buds from packaging, placed them in their pockets and attempted to leave Walmart without paying Thursday.

Both were charged with shoplifting, police said.

An attempt was made to charge more than $19,000 to a Shelbyville woman's credit card, police said.

The issuer was able to stop the transactions, which included a name and phone number from Maine.

A Shelbyville man was charged with rape Thursday following an accusation of an encounter Wednesday night at the alleged victim's home.

Christopher Lee Farris, 42, of Barksdale Lane allegedly was told "no" by the woman, a police report said.

Farris was being held on $10,000 bond Friday.
