Fann Wong goes on baking spree at home – straits times

SINGAPORE - Like many stuck at home during the circuit breaker, local Ah Jie Fann Wong is spending her time baking for her family.

The 49-year-old actress, who is married to Malaysia-born actor Christopher Lee and has a five-year-old son Zed with him, has been regularly posting pictures of her home-made baked goods such as naan, gula melaka pandan cake, castella cake and brioche.

She even attempted to make the French baguette, known to be a challenging bread for home bakers.

On Thursday (June 18), she posted a hyperlapse video of herself making the baguettes on Instagram, with instructions on how to bake the bread in the caption. Fans thanked her for sharing the recipe video.

She also posted a photo of herself with her baguettes last Sunday (June 14). It attracted many comments from celebrity friends like Hong Huifang and Belinda Lee, who expressed their admiration for her baking skills.

Her 48-year-old hubby also left a cheeky comment: "You can open a bakery right now! Do you need any employees?"

Baguette Recipe Ingredients 340ml room temperature water 12 tsp yeast 450g Bread flour 1 tsp salt Step 1 In a bowl, add water. dissolve yeast in the water, and then mix in bread flour and salt with spatula till no visible powder, cover to ferment. Step 2 Ferment at room temperature for 1 hour. *Stretch and fold the dough, slam few times about 30 sec each time at 30 and 60 minutes respectively till surface is smooth. (Video 0:42) Step 3 Cover the dough wrap with cling wrap, then put it into fridge over night. Step 4 The next day (2-3x the normal size), deflate the air from the dough, divide into 4, sprinkle flour on the table top and roll into ball shape and rest it for 40 minutes. Step 5 Sprinkle flour on table top... Shape to baguette. Smooth surface on the table top, press it down flat with fingers, roll it up slowly and press from the middle and spread it long.(length depends on your oven side) Final proof for 40 minutes. It your room is warmer than 21C , shorten the proofing time. *Sprinkle some flour on the baguette tray Step 6 Preheat the oven 30 minutes ahead. 285 C or highest temp Step 7 Cut few lines on the bread diagonally (2:00) Step 8 Bake for 10-12 minutes with steam (Add hot water at the base of the oven tray) Bake 2 baguette at a time Step 9 Place it on the rack to cool. Good to serve
