Former Bond Girl Doesn’t Think A Female Should Portray 007 – TheRichest

Daniel Craig agreed to suit up forafifth and final time as James Bond in No Time to Die, which hits the big screen in three months.

Some believed that he would retire from the role after Spectre, which was released in late 2015. But Craig has confirmed numerous times that No Time to Diewill mark his final ride as 007.

There's plenty of speculation going around as to who could take over for Craig, and somewonder if a female will be cast as the next Bond. Pierce Brosnan -- who portrayed 007 in four different films -- recently endorsed this idea. But a former Bond girl strongly believes that the role shouldstill be played by a male.

Britt Ekland portrayed Bond girl Mary Goodnight in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), which starred Roger Moore as 007 and Christopher Lee as the primary villain. Ekland explained in an interview on Good Morning Britain (h/t Sarah Deen of Metro), why a female shouldn't be cast as Craig's replacement.

"Thats not going to happen, we might as well not talk about it," Ekland said. "I dont have any information. I know Barbara (Broccoli) and if I had any influence, I would whisper and say, 'No, not a female Bond!'"

"Bond girls is a very nice title and its what people want," Ekland continued. "It doesnt have the same ring. 'Bond woman.'"

It's truly anybody's guess as to who could replace Daniel Craig, but there's a compelling case to be made that a female is deserving of taking over the reigns. There are plenty of rumors going around that Lashana Lynch -- who portrays another Double O agent named Nomi in No Time to Die-- will succeed Craig as the next Bond.

Sam Heughan and Richard Madden have been listed as the betting favorites to take over as Bond. Tom Hardy, Idris Elba and James Norton are among the many marquee names who've also been rumored to become the next Bond.

No Time to Diewill likely give us a hint as to whether or not a female (perhaps Lynch) will assume the role of 007. Otherwise, it's really anybody's guess who Craig's successor will be, with no shortage of intriguing candidates.
