Havea Named VaSID Women’s Indoor First Team All-State – Southern Virginia University News

BUENA VISTA, Va. The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) today announced the 2019-20 Women's Indoor Track & Field All-State Teams, with Southern Virginia University's Mesi Havea earning first-team honors in the throwing events.

Havea anchored the women's track & field team earning USTFCCCA All-Region honors in the weight throw and shot put. The South Jordan, Utah, native won an individual Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Championship and All-CAC First Team honors in the weight throw with an impressive mark of 16.04m. She also added an All-CAC Secon Team performance and a second-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 13.60m. Havea was recognized as the CAC Field Athlete of the Week twice (1/20/2020 and 2/3/2020). She holds the current program-record in the weight throw with a mark of 16.27m at the NYC DIII Invitational, where she won the event.

VaSID names 44 All-State teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
