North boys swim past Bloomington South; Panther girls top Bull Frogs – The Republic

The Columbus North boys swimmers got state finalist Christopher Lee back from quarantine Tuesday night, and it made a huge difference.

Lee won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.39 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 52.84 and swam on two winning relay teams to lead the Bull Frogs to a 105-81 win against Bloomington South.

Chris swims and his presence and his leadership provide a lot of energy for our team, and it was great to have him back, North coach Logan Schaefer said.

Daniel Utterback also was a double-winner for the Bull Frogs, taking the 200 freestyle (1:51.53) and 100 freestyle (49.06). Other individual winners for the boys were Carlos Fabien in the 200 individual medley (2:15.41), DeShawn Austin in the diving competition (205.90) and Aidan McAlister in the 500 freestyle (5:13.09).

Maclain Clock had two lifetime-best swims, Schaefer said. Those were really exciting. Pratt Badve in the 200 IM, Carlos Fabien in the 100 butterfly had good swims.

North also won the 200 medley (1:42.74) and 400 freestyle (3:25.82) relays.

It was really exciting, Schaefer said. This is one that the team has had circled on the calendars for awhile. It was a really great meet for the boys tonight.

Bloomington South topped the Bull Frogs 120-66 in the girls meet. Norths Riddhi Garg won the 50 freestyle (26.52), and Adeline Rush took the 100 backstroke (1:04.91).

Adeline Rush was back from a short quarantine and had two really solid swims, Schaefer said. Karissa Bevis had two good swims tonight. Lauren Brault went under 6 minutes in the 500 freestyle for the first time this season, and she was really excited about that.

The Bull Frogs and Panthers will see each other again on Dec. 30 when they compete in the Bloomington South Invitational. The teams also will battle in the Conference Indiana meet in January and the North Sectional in February.
