The store called police to report that a man had taken items and was now outside, nearby, taking photographs of the merchandise he had allegedly stolen.

BROCKTON One way or another, it appears a man accused of shoplifting from a hardware store Tuesday was going tco be caught.

Officers responded to a report of shoplifting at Lowe's Home Improvement, at 87 Westgate Drive, about 1:15 p.m.

The store called police to report that a man had taken items and was now outside, nearby, taking photographs of the merchandise he had allegedly stolen.

Police were told the man was outside of the nearby Salvation Army Family Store and Donation Center.

"When officers arrived, they saw a man fitting the description walking away from the Salvation Army with a red box tucked inside his coat," said police spokesman Darren Duarte.

The man, 40-year-old Christopher Lee Chamberlain, was detained and police say they not only determined that he had stolen a Craftsman drill, but he also had an outstanding warrant.

Chamberlain, who told police he is homeless but stays in Brockton, was arrested and charged with shoplifting by concealing merchandise.

He was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Brockton District Court, but the result of the hearing wasn't immediately available.
