Star Wars: The Clone Wars Nears End of Seven Season Run – MiceChat

One of the most critically acclaimed chapters in the Star Wars saga, the Annie Award-winning Star Wars: The Clone Wars will come to a close on May 4, giving fans around the world the chance to watch the finale together for Star Wars Day on Disney+.

The ground-breaking series explores the events during the three years between the prequel films Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and chronicles the adventures of Anakin Skywalker, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi and other characters from the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which was the first weekly TV series from Lucasfilm Animation, began as a theatrical film which served as the pilot for the series. The series premiered later that year on Cartoon Network on October 3, 2008, and became one of channels highest-rated shows during its original run.

In 2013, Disney unceremoniously canceled the series following its acquisition of Lucasfilm. However, the 13-episode 6th season, The Lost Missions, was already in production during that time. Netflix, making itself available to Disney as a platform for digital distribution, debuted the new episodes as a Netflix exclusive and made the entire show available for streaming in 2014.

With the launch of Disney+ looming on the horizon, the series was pulled from Netflix along with other Disney titles and the revival of Star Wars: The Clone Wars was planned for a debut as a Disney+ exclusive.

The series features many actors from the live-action Star Wars films reprising their roles as their animated counterparts, such as Christopher Lee (Count Dooku), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), and Samuel L. Jackson (Mace Windu). Series regulars include Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker), James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano), and Tom Kane (Narrator, Yoda, and Admiral Wullf Yularen).

Disney+ will also celebrate Star Wars Day, May 4, by premiering Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian. The eight-part docuseries will explore the making of The Mandalorian season 1 through interviews, never-before-seen footage, and roundtable conversations hosted by executive producer Jon Favreau.
