The Best Roles The Star Wars Cast Had That Werent Star Wars (According To IMDb) – Screen Rant

Considering its the biggest franchise of films ever made, you sort of expect Star Wars to have delivered some pretty incredible cast members over the years. The original trilogy gathered a relatively unknown cast and turned them into household names, while the prequels used their power to attract an incredible cast list before the sequels took a route that combined the approaches of both predecessors.

Weve used IMDb to find the film that some of the main Star Wars cast members are most famous for based on its average IMDb rating (and made sure its not related to Star Wars).

If you ignore the fair few documentaries that Mark Hamill has lent his voice to, then the film that clocks in as Hamills most successful appearance is the 1993 cartoon Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm, where he voices his regular role of The Joker (7.8) -- a role equally iconic as that of Luke within its respective fandom, it's safe to say.

Arguably the most famous name to have appeared in the Star Wars franchise is Harrison Ford himself. As you might expect, it is his title role as Indiana Jones that tops his list with an impressive 8.4 for Raiders Of The Lost Ark. However, Apocalypse Now from just a few years earlier achieves the exact same score.

After her role as Princess Leia, Carrie Fisher didnt go on to have quite as impressive a career as many of her co-stars, despite returning to the franchise for the sequels trilogy.

Her highest rated film that isnt Star Wars comes from her brilliant appearance in The Blues Brothers.

Alec Guinness was a surprising addition to the Star Wars cast even back in 1977. Rather than having fun with a fantastical world, Guinness was very much playing a role with seriousness. He was well-known for much less light-hearted fun than Star Wars, with Lawrence Of Arabia scoring an 8.3.

Despite being almost as famous for his central role in The Muppets as he is for puppeteering and voicing Yoda in Star Wars, Frank Oz scores an 8.2 average for his role in the brilliant 2015 animation Inside Out.

James Earl Jones loves being Darth Vader. He also seems to really like acting and everything that comes with it, so much so that he has returned to voice Vader multiple times across Star Wars history.

Very unexpectedly, his most successful role beats all of the Star Wars films: Ramayana: The Legend Of Prince Rama averages 8.8.

The man who holds the iconic position of being old enough to play a younger version of his character in the prequels and then old enough to once again play an older version of his character in the sequels is, of course, Emperor Palpatine himself. While this is certainly his most well-remembered role, he gets a 7.4 for a brief appearance in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

The young version of Obi-Wan Kenobi has a very respectable career under his belt, which includes everything from Moulin Rouge to Doctor Sleep. Unsurprisingly, however, its his iconic role in Trainspotting that wins him an 8.1 average.

His performance as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader might not have done him many favors in the acting world, but he is the face of the character, nonetheless.

Revenge Of The Sith still wins just about, but Life As A House is in second place on 7.5.

This is another Star Wars cast member who managed to blossom into a household name after completing her time in the series. She has collected a very impressive list of artistic and independent films as well as huge blockbusters, with Leon (in which she stars alongside Gary Oldman) garners a very respectable 8.5 average.

An amazing career full of some of the greatest dramatic performances of a generation led to a new millennium starring in both Lord Of The Rings and Star Wars: quite a way to wrap up an incredible career. It is the former that takes Christopher Lee above the disappointment of the Star Wars prequels, however, with Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King sitting pretty at 8.9

The main character throughout the entire Star Wars sequel trilogy was pretty much completely unheard of before being cast as Rey. She spent the next few years mingling with the likes of Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford and is now known around the world. The British actress doesnt have a hugely dense career yet, so her best non-Star Wars role only averages a rather disappointing 6.6 for Ophelia.

Despite being quite a new film, it is 2019s Marriage Story that comes out on top of Adam Drivers IMDb list. It pips any Star Wars film to the post by 0.1

Its probably quite unsurprising, seeing as the film was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Actor for Driver himself.

Oscar Isaac was one of the few members of the brand new Star Wars cast who actually had a rather well-established filmography to fall back on, including the unbelievably brilliant Ex Machina. The one that sits on top of it all, however, is a film that came out during his stint in Star Wars. Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse scores 8.4.

He was the first face we ever saw when the new Star Wars trilogy was announced, very quickly becoming the poster child for its entire existence for a while. Now he has become a household name which has seen him take the starring role in Detroit. The 2017 film averages 7.3, but there is still plenty of time for Boyega to work his way into some incredible cinema.
