‘THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE’ REBOOT FINDS ITS DIRECTORS AND WRITER – HorrorCultFilms

The news broke back in September last year that Fede Alvarez was producing a new take on Tobe Hoopers The Texas Chainsaw Massacre for Legendary, and now the film has its directors and writer. Ryan and Andy Tohill [The Dig] will helm the project, while the script is written by Chris Thomas Devlin. Said Alvarez:

The Tohills vision is exactly what the fans want. Its violent, exciting and so depraved that it will stay with you forever.

Violent, exciting and depraved are probably the words we want to hear, but this has a been a rather patchy franchise really, with no entry even coming close to the terror of Tobe Hoopers 1974 classic so far. Hopefully with Alvarez involved, this one will restore the good name of Leatherface and co. Apparently Legendary is hoping to kick-start a new series with this one, one thats in some way connected to the original film.

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
