Theater & dance

Dear Evan Hansen. A letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he never dreamed he could have. In this Broadway in Austin production, Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing hes always wanted: a chance to finally fit in. Dear Evan Hansen is the deeply personal and profoundly contemporary musical about life and the way we live it. 8 p.m. Dec. 10-14, 2 p.m. Dec. 14, and 1 and 7 p.m. Dec. 15. $44-$154. Bass Concert Hall, 2350 Robert Dedman Drive. 512-471-2787, texasperformingarts.org.

Music

Graham Reynolds Ruins the Holidays at Long Centers Rollins Theatre. Reynolds, one of Austins leading independent composers for well over a decade, promises to wreak musical havoc on a set of holiday favorites in the concert halls intimate Rollins Theatre. Reynolds converts many of the classic carols into minor keys, casting his introspective renditions in a haunting light. $29. 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10. 701 W. Riverside Drive. thelongcenter.org. Deborah Sengupta Stith

Film

Love Actually at the Paramount Theatre. Celebrate the season in the decked-out halls of the historic Paramount Theatre, which throughout December screens some of our favorite Christmas films continuing with Love Actually. Movies with poster-cramming mega-casts dont always work, especially when interconnected storylines are involved. But thanks to the sure hand of writer and director Richard Curtis, this winning romantic comedy has become beloved. 7 p.m. Dec. 10. $11. 713 Congress Ave. austintheatre.org

Art

Ashley Benton + Christopher Lee Gilmer. For this dual-artist show at Wally Workman Gallery, Gilmer creates oil paintings that explore the psychological effects of the figure through physical mutations that distort and merge various realities. Benton's figurative ceramics also portray a dialogue of the human condition. Less than reality and more than a dream, their works strive to give the viewer an alternative connection to the self. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. Sunday through Jan. 5. 1202 W. Sixth St. wallyworkmangallery.com

Nightlife

Wonder Women of Wine Fundraiser. Celebrate with and help raise money for Wonder Women of Wine's second annual conference as organizers continue the mission of advocating gender equality in the wine industry. The original Bufalina will host the night with delicious wines made by women, snacks and pizza, as well as a chance to win awesome prizes like conference tickets, WWOW swag and large format bottles. 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 10. $25 suggested donation. 1519 E.
