Castlevania Season 4 Trailer Promises To End The Gothic Series By Returning To Its Beginnings – Comic Years

Castlevania is quite possibly one of the best anime series ever created. The gothic series featuring stories of Dracula, vampires and demons in a world on edge, is compelling, visually stunning, and has a lot of depth. The series also has the accomplishment of being the first-ever Netflix original anime, before the streamers current status in the anime industry. It was Castlevania that began it all. And in a meta way, the anime series final season returns to those beginnings to finish its tale. The Castlevania season 4 trailer just released, and it teases a story that goes full circle to the story of season 1. Its a fitting end, as the best stories end with a call back to how they began, and its extremely exciting that Castlevania is going the same route.

Castlevania hooked audiences in its first season by beginning with the story of Dracula. A very personal story of Dracula, that others have attempted, but never to much success. The legendary vampire who is in the public domain was the star of this story. At least in the beginning. By humanizing Dracula, and giving him a love story, the Castlevania creators captured the interest of casual audiences with a story thats accessible to everyone. Then, by introducing the more fantasy aspects of the show, like demons and monsters, they kept them engaged.

Season 1 of Castlevania (recap here) dealt with Draculas tragedy, his bitterness at the world for killing his love. And how he now seeks to get vengeance on, basically, everyone. The story also featured the few mortals who dared to stand against him. Season 2 expanded on that premise by growing the world from these few characters, to a huge population of supporting roles. New origins, villains, heroes, murder-fodder, only endeared these new characters to audiences. With the Dracula threat dealt with, Season 3 focused on a new adventure and story for our main cast of characters. While the supporting cast had their own side missions and subplots. But seemingly, not without purpose.

The Castlevania season 4 trailer looks to bring everything back to the beginning. It looks like someone is trying to resurrect Dracula back from the dead. As the character themselves open the trailer, they return to where it all began. We see Sypha (Alejandra Reynoso) and Trevor Belmont (Richard Armitage) coming back somewhere where the adventures began. While Alucard (James Callis), the son of Dracula himself, seems to have pulled himself out of his self-exile and is now fighting for a cause. With a shiny new outfit, no less. Whether the case is worthy or not is still up for debate.

The villains are also back in full force, ready for their final plans. Vampiress Carmilla (Jaime Murray) has successfully turned Hector (Theo James) to her side, while Isaac (Adetokumboh MCormack) is on his own mission of conquest. It looks like the series is aiming to complete the journeys of all these characters in a successful and meaningful way. Which makes sense, given that we know this is Castlevanias last season.

Things get really exciting in the Castlevania season 4 trailer. Season 3 was more of a quiet fare, with some slower and more disconnected stories about the characters. It felt like we moved away from the season-long arc into something more separate, and individual. But clearly, Castlevania season 4 was planned from before, as those journeys are possibly connecting and intersecting with one another in the shows final season.

Im excited for this final season given that there does seem to be a more connected story this time around. One of the things about the previous seasons is how little a lot of these characters interacted with one another. So it should be exciting to see if they come into contact with each other, and possibly have massive fight sequences? Alucard versus Isaac? Trevor versus Carmilla? And will the ominous Dracula actually return, plunging Alucard back into his vampire-depression? I cant wait!
