Gaslighters set ‘Dracula, the Musical?’ tryouts – TheReporter.Com

Has a musical about the blood-thirsty Transylvanian count ever been so much fun or so often performed?

Vacavilles Gaslighters Theatrical Company has set auditions for Dracula, the Musical? for Tuesday and Wednesday at the Mary Cornelison Studio, 406 Main St. (above Rays Cycle Center), in Vacaville.

Tryouts begin at 7:30 p.m. each night, and callbacks will be from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the studio.

Auditions are open to adults 18 years and older. For those interested, bring sheet music of a favorite song (a piano accompanist will be provided), and be prepared to read from the script and possibly do some choreography.

Available roles include Dracula, Boris Renfield, Sam Seward, Sophie Seward, Nelly Norton, and 10 ensemble members who will double as asylum inmates and angry villagers. The parts of Mina, Van Helsing, and Bubu Padoop are already cast.

Performances will be at the Harbor Theatre in Suisun City. Run dates are Oct. 19-21 and 22 (a matinee), and 28 (two performances).

For more information, call Dan Clanton, the director, at 365-1199.
