The original manuscript for the Victorian novel 'Dracula' written by Bram Stoker goes to auction in New York.

The manuscript of Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' has been lost from sight for the best part of a century. The very existence of the manuscript was under question until its discovery in 1984.

'Dracula' was first published in 1897 and just over a hundred years on the Victorian novel continues to assert a hole in the popular imagination.

Probably one of the most influential novels in its field.

The original typed manuscript goes up for auction in Christies of New York today. The manuscript contains numerous scribblings by the author in its margins. The title page of the more than 500 page manuscript reads 'The Undead' by Bram Stoker. The manuscript which was discovered just 18 years ago is expected to fetch as much as $2 million.

Combining fiction and horror, 'Dracula' is described as one of the great originals.

The self proclaimed final surviving member of Count Dracula says he is seeking a noble English heir to carry on the line made famous by his blood sucking ancestor.
