Tonight’s TV: Brian May in Save the Hedgehogs and Chris Tarrant goes to Transylvania – The National

WITH just a million hedgehogs thought to be left in the UK, rock legend Dr Brian May and naturalist and presenter Steve Backshall are back at the Amazing Grace rescue centre to turn the spotlight on the uplifting and positive things we can all do to help them survive. Incorporating footage from previous specials alongside brand-new updates, Steve reveals the risks these adorable creatures face.

Food Unwrapped (Channel 4, 8pm)

IN this selection of investigations and discoveries, Jimmy Doherty journeys to South Africa, home to the popular sweet piquante pepper. He meets the company that has rights to grow, process and market these colourful peppers. In San Francisco, Kate Quilton meets a biotech company who are doing research into growing fish cells into an edible fish meat.

Chris Tarrant: Extreme Railway Journeys (C5, 9pm)

TARRANT takes a mid-winter trip through Transylvania in search of the truth behind the story of Dracula and to find out how well the regions railway networks survived. Along the way he visits a place that is claimed to be the worlds spookiest wood and stops off at the birthplace of the gruesome Vlad the Impaler.

Vienna Blood (BBC2, 9pm)

AS Max tells his family that Clara has broken off their engagement, the Liebermanns are shocked by an act of violence committed by Leahs son Daniel. When bruises are found on the boys body, Max persuades Oskar that the military academy his nephew attends should be investigated. When Max finds a coded note in Daniels things he begins to suspect some sinister goings on.

24 Hours in A&E (C4, 9pm)

MARK, 32, is brought to resus with a head injury after having an epileptic seizure, and he is sent for an urgent CT scan to assess the damage to his brain. Anastasia, 80, comes to urgent care with a pain in her leg and while she is sent for an X-ray to rule out a blood clot, she shares the story of her arrival to study in England from Nigeria, only for civil war to break out back home. Porter Chris, whos been part of the A&E department for 25 years, shares his insights into the job.
