While some recent releases are just as well-crafted,there is a handful of classic horror movies which stand outfrom the restthanks totheir premises, storytelling, and character development. There are a lot of lessons in these older films that actually predicted some of the things that people would be worried and scared of in 2020.

The 2010 reboot isn't great, but 1984'sA Nightmare On Elm Streetis one of the besthorror movies ever. It definitely reflects society today, as it's about a group of parents who are terrified of pedophile Freddy Kreuger. They will do anything within their power to protect their kids, and they go after him one day.

This is still very relevant today, as parents are always keeping an eye on their children, especially when it comes to screen time and whether they're visiting websites that they shouldn't be.

1978'sHalloweenis belovedand the story of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) babysitting and coming across terrifying Michael Myers will always be perfect viewing around October 31st.

This is not only an incredibly well-done movie, but it also reflects society today as it's about the whole "stranger danger" concept. People always want to keep their doors locked and they never want to hear that a dangerous person lurks in their seemingly perfect neighborhood.

Candyman, which was released in 1992, is about a spirit from the 19th century who goes by that name. Candyman fell in love with a white woman and because he was a slave's child, he was killed.
