Chinese Zodiac: 5 Horror Movies An Ox Will Love (& 5 They Will Hate) – Screen Rant

Those born in the Year of the Ox have strong, stubborn personalities. They'll love some horror films, but not those with lazy heroes.

In the Chinese zodiac calendar, the Ox personality is one of the strongest. As implied with the animal that represents this personality, these people tend to be strong-willed, determined, and ambitious. They can also be a bit set in their ways and have difficulty being flexible.

With such a strong personality type, one needs to consider their shared qualities when choosing the perfect movies for them to watch. This is especially true of the horror genre as it can be difficult finding the right scary movie for the right person.Which appeal to the Ox? And which will make the horns come out?

Long before Bong Joon-ho made Oscar history with his film Parasite, he gained a lot of attention for his Korean monster movie,The Host. The film follows a dysfunctional family looking to rescue their young daughter who was taken by a monster.

The way the family comes together to save the child is something the Ox will relate to as they have strong ties to family. They will also connect to the subplot about the government trying to control the situation through nefarious means while the family refuses to submit.

Oxes pride themselves on their dependability in the face of a crisis and how they are always able to rise to the occasion. No doubt they would find theprotagonist at the center of Edgar Wright's Shaun of the Dead a less-than-ideal hero.

Simon Pegg plays the lazy and unambitious Shaun, who is forced to finally put in some effort when zombies begin terrorizing the city. Watching this inactive man stumble his way through the situation would be too much for the Ox to handle.

A Quiet Place is a truly terrifyingpremise as monsters have taken over the world and hunt the remaining survivors based on sound. The film focuses on a family who attempts to survive in this dangerous new world.

While the high-concept story is intriguing, the movie is really about the strength of this family and what the parents will go through to keep their children safe. Despite all the hardships, the mother and father are extremely strong and reliable protectors, which an Ox can relate to.

Maybe people praise John Carpenter's The Thing as perhaps the best horror movie ever made. However, despite its brilliance, the paranoia-filled alien invasion film would likely be a real nightmare for Ox viewers.

Truth and trust are very important to Ox, but this film makes it impossible to know who to trust. As a group of researchers in a remote arctic lab are stalked by a shapeshifting alien, they begin to realize any one of them could be an enemy.

The Ox is known for being strong and determined in their pursuits. Whenever they come across a roadblock, they refuse to be stopped, always looking for ways to get around it. Therefore, they would probably love the underrated horror remake,The Crazies.

The film is set in a small town where a virus is turning everyone into violent psychopaths and the government is going to scary lengths to contain the threat. Timothy Olyphant plays a sheriff who is faced withobstacle afterobstacle as he attempts to get his loved ones to safety. But even as all seems hopeless, he never quits.

Horror movies have many well-known clichs that are hilariously torn apart in the horror-comedy Cabin in the Woods. When a group of young adults go to a secluded cabin to party, strange things begin to happen and they are unaware that outside forces are controlling everything.

The movie does a great job of trying to explain why horror movie characters make such dumb decisions. However, Cabin in the Woodswould likely frustrate Ox personalities as they like to approach problems from a place of logical thinking.

Like Cabin in the Woods, Wes Craven's Scream is another horror film that uses the clichs of the genre to its benefit. This slasher film centers around a group of kids who are targeted by a masked killer. The big difference in this movie is that the characters seem to know they are in a horror movie.

Ox personalities try to approach every situation from a rational standpoint. In this way, they would love how the Screamcharacters use their knowledge of the horror genre to try and understand the situation they are in.

Though the 2006 remake might be a notorious disaster, the original version of The Wicker Man is a delightfully strange horror film. Alas, conservative and traditional Ox personalities might find it too off-putting.

The story follows a Scotland Yard detective investigating the disappearance of a young girl on an island. There he encounters paganism and all sorts of strange customs that shakes his very conservative nature.

Horror movies are not typically filled with characters who make rational decisions, which can be very frustrating for Ox viewers. However, the iconic hero Ellen Ripley from the Alien franchiseis the perfect hero from the Oz personality.

In the first Alien film, Ripley is the only member of her crewwho seems to recognize how dangerous the situation is. She is the one who doesn't want to explore a strange planet or allow an alien specimen on the ship. At every turn, she is making smart choices and ends up being the only survivor.

Most Oxes are known for their ambition and their love of their family. They are always moving forward with their work and they are dependable to their loved ones. These are certainly not traits shared by Jake Torrance in The Shining.

Jack is a struggling writer who cannot seems to get anywhere with his new novel. While serving as a caretaker of an empty and secluded hotel, Jack becomes deranged and tries to murder his wife and son.
