Daily Distraction: Watch the trailer for a Columbus-filmed horror movie out today – Columbus Alive

It's been a good year for Columbus movies. In June, "Poser," the first full-length feature from Columbus-based Loose Films, debuted atthe Tribeca Film Festival, and in September it gained national distribution through Oscilloscope.

Then, last month saw the local premiere of "They/Them/Us," also shot in Columbus, which starred Joey Slotnick and Amy Hargreaves. The film was directed by Jon Sherman and co-written with his partner, Columbus artist Melissa Vogley Woods.

Today (Friday, Nov. 12), another movie shot in Columbus, "Double Walker," debuts locally at the Gateway Film Center (including a Q& at the 8 p.m. screening) and on demand. Starring "Poser" actress Sylvie Mix, who also served as writer and producer alongsideco-writer, directorand fellow Ohio native Colin West, "Double Walker" has been described as a blend of "Promising Young Woman" and "It Follows."

The film blurb goes like this: "A young ghost (Mix) haunts her cold Midwestern hometown, trying to piece together the horrific flashes of memories from her past. One by one she kills the men she believes were responsible for her death with a sharp, pointed spoon and drinks their blood. Her plan is derailed when she meets Jack (Jacob Rice), a kind movie theater usher who inadvertently intercepts as shes stalking her next victim. While Jack takes her in and offers her a glimpse at a normal life, her desire to avenge her own murder lingers on."

Check out the super creepy (and, fair warning, bloody) trailer below.
