What Austin Would Look Like as a Horror Movie – Austin Monthly

Wondering what the capital city would look like if it was the location for the next zombie apocalypse? Local photographer Shy (Lets just leave it at that, they say when asked for their name) decided to find out. Popular on Instagram for their dramatic and vivid photography of Austin, theyve recently been editing some of their pictures to better fit the season. That means adding horror movie inspired details, like witches flying over the Frost Bank Tower and scarecrows set up outside a foggy downtown. Here, some of their best shots.

This image was inspired by the original Exorcist movie cover. I remember watching that movie as a kid, without my parents permission, and instantly regretting it. It gave me nightmares for weeks. Ive never watched it again since.

Im just a big Jeepers Creepers fan and always thought it was an underrated horror movie. Both the original and the sequel are equally goodthe third one, not so much.

This is The Old Crawford Mill which is also one of the locations where Texas Chainsaw Massacre was filmed. I bought a Leatherface mask on Amazon Prime a few days before, made the drive out to Granger Texas, and took a few photos. I must admit, the place was a bit creepy and had some weird vibes. Id definitely recommend not going there alone, like I did.

The Descent.

Ive always been a Nightmare Before Christmas fan and simply decided to add a little Austin twist to it, with a photo I took the night before, from chilly Zilker Park. So is it a Halloween movie or not?

My nephew loves playing the Slender Man video game. This one was for him.

The old Graffiti Park with with a little Halloween/zombie spice.

This is just a shot at sunset I took of Austins most iconic buildings, which is the Frost Bank Tower. A little witch just so happened to be flying by at the time, which resulted in a wonderful shot.
