Five Things I Noticed in the Empty Disney Parks – The DIS

Until my recent trip in mid-August of 2020, I have never been to an empty Walt Disney World theme park. Having only traveled to Orlando from mid-May to August, I am accustomed to wall-to-wall people. But this year, I experienced the parks as I had never seen them before. Empty.I initially arrived at Magic Kingdom on a Thursday at 10:30am and Peter Pans Flight was a walk-on.This provided the ability to see and hear details which are a challenge to see when hordes of people are packed in and some hustling is required in order to have a full experience. There were five things in particular which I was very pleased to truly notice for the first time.

Hollywood Studios Billboards

Old Hollywood and the world of early movie making is one of my favorite historical periods and is a theme the Disney parks occasionally tap into. Hollywood Studios was initially built with the period of 1940s and 50s Hollywood in mind. And while the park is turning away from that world, it is still evident on Sunset Boulevard and Hollywood Boulevard. One of the details which I knew about but never really took the time to notice are the billboards located on the boulevards and around Echo Lake. They are well-kept, referencing entertainment, places, and products from the era.Included are billboards advertising: the Hollywoodland housing development, the Hollywood Canteen, Disneys 1939 short The Autograph Hound, and more.On top of buildings they can really only be seen if one stops and looks straight up. Keeping them in place throughout turbulent years at the Studios, they serve as stalwart reminders of a much more optimistic and wholesome era.

Cinderella Castle Mosaic Murals

The symbol of Walt Disney World, Cinderella Castle recently received a new coat of paint, giving it a vibrant appearance. The walkway through the castle is now open, with Prince Charming Regal Carrouselspinning away, creating a truly inviting symbol at the end of Main Street, U.S.A.Mosaic murals inside tell the story of Cinderella (1950), familiar to viewers of the Disney film, but with a medieval design.Using over one million pieces of Italian glass, 500 colors, and real silver and gold pieces, five murals tell the beloved story.

Normally, if walking through the castle is available, it is a crush of humanity. Not only convenient to walk through, throngs waiting for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and Cinderellas Royal Table (both closed as of this writing, CRT reopens 9/24), can make even taking a picture a daunting task. With these closures and limitations on attendance, I generally found the walkway through the castle vacant. This allowed the opportunity to step back and see the stunning detail used in telling the Cinderella story in intricate detail. The mosaics are alive with color, and full of familiar characters such as Lady Tremaine depicted in a fashion very different from the film. The small animals crucial to Grimms fairy tales are not neglected, with cats, rabbits, mice, and birds featured. These truly gorgeous pieces of art should be absolutely photographed as much as the exterior.I am as guilty as anyone of running on by and not taking notice, and it much easier with the aforementioned closures to stop and observe. Essentially, in a tunnel in the heart of one of the worlds best theme parks, these murals are easy to miss.On your next visit to Magic Kingdom, I would highly recommend, perhaps just before opening, heading through Cinderella Castle and taking a close look at these treasures.

Additional Background Music

Background music (BGM) can be heard in all areas of Walt Disney World, including restrooms and resort buses.BGM is not something I noticed for the first time in an empty park, with Soarins and the Pirates of the Caribbean queue soundtracks being favorites.

But, with being on a bus with only one other family or being able to amble through a normally stuffed Fantasyland, there was a whole other world of music and noises I could really notice.Heading to the Beach Club Resort (a Deluxe resort) on the bus, the ride was accompanied by a wonderful calming track of sea noises and an occasional seagull.Music and punny announcements made in the queue for the Jungle Cruise can be appreciated much easier when the few guests present are six feet apart.Again, hearing BGM is nothing new for any experienced Disney Parks visitor.I am listening to the Tree of Life soundtrack as I write this! But with other sensory distraction removed, the sounds of the parks really stand out.

Attraction Signs & Facades

Much like background music, attraction signs have been in the parks since the opening of Disneyland. But taking the time to notice them normally can be obstructive to other guests.Attraction signs and facades are often works of art in and of themselves.Big Thunder Mountain Railroads sign and queue entry, when one takes the time to look, is a whole world of desert fauna, mining equipment, and inventive structures. But with wait times of easily 60 minutes or more, it can be hard to stop and take notice without being obstinate. The carved signs, shields, and statues of Adventurelandalso stood out as exceptional in their detail and beauty.During more conventional times, these works of art may not even be visible.Wrought iron, woodwork, use of light, thatched roofs and more are all crucial to creating immersive environments.

The Haunted Mansion is Scary

The Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdoms Liberty Square is a perennial fan favorite. I have never really thought of the attraction as scary, but more creepy and eerie with fun elements. Sitting in a Doom Buggy (ride vehicle) with no visible guests was downright scary. From the growling wallpaper to a dusty cluttered attic, the Haunted Mansion transformed into an ominous and menacing excursion. This was not a disadvantageous experience, and in fact created a greater appreciation for the delicate tight-rope the attraction must walk.Morbid but not vulgar. Dark and mysterious, but not terrifying.Riding basically as the sole guest (thats what it felt like at least), the Haunted Mansion became creakier, colder, and almost frightening.

Walt Disney World is not meant to be empty, and hopefully as guests come back reporting positive experiences, more will feel comfortable traveling. With greater freedom of movement and without the cacophony and hurly-burly of literally thousands, the true beauty of the parks are on full display.

What has your experience been like in the sparsely populated parks? Is there anything you are really noticing for the first time?

Looking to Become a Real Vampire? It’s Time to Move to Texas – Newsweek

Texas is known for many things barbecue, the Alamo, and vampires (yes, you read that correctly). Real-life vampire communities, known as courts, are popular in the Lone Star State. These communities may sound grotesque and scary, but the truth is they are incredibly philanthropic and even welcoming to outsiders.

"We celebrate the dark, the macabre, and the spooky, and we recognize that it's part of culture throughout history," Mikael Kage, king of the Houston Vampire Court (HVC) since 2017, told Fodor's. "No matter how weird or how spooky you think your passions and ideas are, you have a place where you're not judged for it."

Kage discovered this community while scoping out the goth nightclub scene and meeting folks who also had an affinity for all things vampire and spooky. But, what does it mean to realize you are a vampire, you may ask, and that it's not just a phase?

When someone realizes they identify as a vampire, the universal moment is "the awakening," which is the moment they also call "coming out of the coffin." Kage revealed that this moment usually happens around puberty, but can sometimes occur later in life.

These real-life vampires aren't like Dracula, and are incomparable to the Twilight saga's Cullen family. Kage said that those fictitious creatures are just "mopey superheroes that sparkle in the sunlight."

However, whether or not garlic is deadly to these Texas vampires remains unclear though equally unlikely.

Kage noted that the HVC has helped "disabuse people who may have some really weird notions" about the blood-sucking and immortality associated with vampires. "We'll help them enjoy how they feel without going down any dangerous paths," he said.

Courts themselves also have different vibes. The HVC is more of a punk-rock scene, meanwhile the Dallas/Fort Worth Vampire Court (VCD) has more of an artistic focus, according to members, so there's something for everyone.

These vampire courts are also known for their philanthropic work.

"Charity work seemed the best way to utilize the amount of unique talent inside and outside of our membership as well provide these needed opportunities for giving," Danielle Kowal, a media representative and member of the VCD, told Fodor's. They benefit the city and community by creating art, culture, and music while supporting local causes.

Blood drives, children with medical needs, heart research, exotic animal shelters, and domestic abuse prevention are among the causes the VCD has benefitted. The HVC, meanwhile, has been highly successful in their annual drive to pay-off student lunch debts.

Are you sold on moving to Texas and becoming a vampire? In order to join these vampire communities, you can apply for membership in the designated city.

You can also keep an eye out for charity balls thrown, such as Houston's annual Nightshade Ball and Dallas's Bleeding Hearts Ball. These gothic events include live music, drinks, and entertainment like burlesque performers and tarot card readings. Maybe the eerie celebrations will suck you right in.

Magic: The Gathering – Who Are the Vampire Conquistadors in the Legion of Dusk? – CBR – Comic Book Resources

The Legion of Dusk is the vampires' conquering fleet on Ixalan, and they hunger for eternal life and the blood of the living.

In Magic: The Gathering, vampires exist on most planes, from Innistrad to Dominaria to Mirrodin. On Ixalan, they are on a ruthless crusade for true immortality.

Vampires are one of the major races on Ixalan, and they are locked in a four-way battle with the pirate coalition, the native Sun Empire and the merfolk. The vampires plan to use their zealous conviction, blood hunger and disciplined military to gain supremacy in this wild land. And they are getting close to victory.

RELATED: Magic: The Gathering - How to Sideboard Against Modern Burn Decks

The vampires of the Legion are native to the Ixalan continent known as Torrezon. It is not depicted in the game, but a few key events are clear. A few centuries ago, the Immortal Sun was held in a mountaintop monastery there, and its influence strengthened the nearby nobles. Eventually, the people of the Torrezon kingdom fought a civil war, and a queen emerged triumphantly. Elenda of Garrano undertook a ritual to become the plane's first-ever vampire, hungry for blood, and her followers did the same.

Elenda's crown and church spread its influence across Torrezon and conquered the other kingdoms out of sheer hunger in a holy crusade, and the other kingdoms fell to the Legion of Dusk. Thos drove off the last free humans, who formed an informal pirate fleet called the Brazen Coalition and fled Torrezon. However,at some point, a great winged beast took away the Immortal Sun and transported it to a continent across the vast ocean. The Legion of Dusk's vampires wanted it badly, so they assembled their own vast fleet made up of many caravels and a handful of massive, cathedral-style galleons.

Hundreds of clerics and knights of the Legion boarded the ships and made the journey to the new land, where the Brazen Coalition had fled earlier. Unlike the opportunistic and self-centered pirates, however, the Legion's members are highly trained, disciplined and zealous, fighting for their queen and church against all enemies. But this crusade has an edge of desperation about it; the vampires can't stand their constant blood hunger, so they crave the Immortal Sun and its powers. The Legion believes that the Immortal Sun, if they can claim it, will give them true immortality, free from the mundane hunger for blood.

The Legion arrived at the new continent and set up their forts and bases in an area known as Miraldanor. It includes fortresses such as Adanto (the first and largest), Leor, Durran and Conquerer's Foothold. The Legion enjoys a number of advantages over the native Sun Empire, the merfolk and the pirates, but they do have their work cut out for them.

RELATED: Magic: The Gathering - The Cult of Rakdos Guild, Explained

No one is willing to ally with them against the other races, and the Legion's forts and camp walls can't handle the sheer strength of a dinosaur's charge. Worse yet, the merfolk and Sun Empire natives know the land much better than the Legion's troops do, and they can trap, divert or even slay Legion soldiers and clerics with the power of the wilds. Only the Legion's advanced skills, zealotry and vampiric strength will keep them in the game and give them a chance of finding the lost city of gold and the Immortal Sun inside it

The Legion of Dusk is representedwith black and white cards in the Ixalan and Rivals of Ixalan sets, and their most common creature types are Vampire, Cleric, Soldier and Knight. Strategy-wise, the Legion wants to go on the offensive and stay that way, using the white-weenie power of their creatures and effective removal in both colors to push damage turn after turn. These creatures tend to have high power and may have abilities such as first strike, lifelink, deathtouch and the ability to become temporarily indestructible, a replacement for regeneration.

Related: Magic: The Gathering - Zendikar Rising Showcases Exciting Legendary Creatures

Many Legion of Dusk cards like to create 1/1 white Vampire creature tokens with lifelink, and many of these cards can pump up allied creatures either individually, or the entire board at once. Vampire spells may also force opponents to discard card or lose life, and the vampires make modest use of Treasure artifact tokens. These decks can't match the Dinosaurs pound for pound, so they kill off the strongest enemy creatures and attack with its small aggro creatures, gaining life the entire time. In short, these decks are ruthless and precise, and they should be used that way.

A few notable Legion cards have appeared in the Ixalan sets. Twilight Prophet is a 2/4 for 2BB that has flying and Ascend. If its controller has the city's blessing, then they may (on their upkeep) reveal the top card of their library and put it into their hand. Then each opponent loses life equal to its CMC while Twilight Prophet's controller gains life equal to the revealed card's CMC. This is like a stronger version of Dark Confidant: drawing an extra card, but gaining life equal to its CMC while other players lose that much life.

Elenda, the Dusk Rose is a legendary 1/1 Vampire that costs 2WB and has lifelink. Anytime another creature dies, Elenda gets a +1/+1 counter, and when it dies, its controller gets a number of 1/1 white Vampire creature tokens with lifelink equal to however many +1/+1 counters it had. This creature can make for an effective commander in the Commander format with tribal Vampire support.

Wolverine: Why the [SPOILER] Allowed Logan to Live | CBR – CBR – Comic Book Resources

Wolverine gets kidnapped and hes vulnerable when hes frozen in a block of ice. Most of his enemies would kill Logan, but his captors let him live.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers from Wolverine#4-5 by Benjamin Percy, Viktor Bogdanovic, Matthew Wilson, and VC's Cory Petit, on sale now.

In Wolverine #4, Wolverine finds himself in an increasingly nightmarish situation. First, his happy place, the Red Tavern bar, is invaded by vengeful members of the Mutant Trauma Group. These extremists, hoping to punish Logan for all the lives he's ruined, drug him and take him, prisoner. Near the end of the issue, they leave Logan for dead when they tie him in a chair andplace him on a frozen lake in Canada, where he's attacked by Omega Red and the Vampire Nation.

Wolverine has been battling vampires since this series' opening issue. Things aren't looking up for him in Wolverine #5 either. Here, the bloodsuckers string him up and try to feed on him. But he's rescued by Louise, a member of the Nightguard, a group devoted to fighting vampires. She explains that the monsters are rising up while the mutants are distracted with the establishment of Krakoa. The vampires aim to become even more powerful by evolving so that they can walk in the daylight. To fulfill this goal, the Vampire Nation wants to use Logan's blood because it has rare properties that could transform them.

Related:Wolverine Just Lived Through Captain America's Worst Nightmare

Wolverine has Type E blood, which is only found in one in eight million people. It's also extraordinary becausehis blood is impervious to disease and illness. Type E blood may sounds like a perfect cure for the vampires' weakness to the sun.But the usefulness of Logan's blood is limited because, once it leaves his body, his healing factor isn't nearly as prevalent. So, at that point, Logan's blood isn't very helpful. It won't fully aid the vampires to combat their disease or their vulnerability to the sun. Still, the vampires seek Logan's blood to capitalize on its curative nature.

As a result, Wolverine #5 opens with vampires draining the blood out of Logan while he's trapped in a solid block of ice. When his captors leave, several young vampires steal Logan's body and flee the scene. During their escape, Wolverine uses his claws to break out of the ice. Though he initially clashes with the young vampires, Logan learns that they aren't typical bloodsuckers because they only drink animal blood. Wolverineand his new allies attack the other vampires in a bloody battle where one of them hints that the vampires have grand ambitions.

Related: Why EVERY Marvel Vampire Can Be a Daywalker

When Logan asks one of the vampires why they abandoned him, she says she didn't want to keep him prisoner for too long. Otherwise, the X-Men would come looking for him. With a knowing smile, she says, "We aren't ready for them. Yet." Logan kills her, so the reader is left wondering what the vampires haveplanned. Based on their repeated interest in Wolverine's blood, it's easy to predict why the Vampire Nation is targeting Logan's peers. Though other mutants' blood might not be as incredible as Logan's, it could still serve the same function.

At the beginning of Wolverine #5, Logan is in dire straights; he has been captured and frozen in a block of ice. Though young rebellious vampires help him escape, more trouble is clearly on the horizon. Dracula won't stop until his brethren can operate both at night and during the day. He sees the blood of mutants as the answer to all of the Vampire Nation's problems. This mindset threatens everything the X-Men have built with Krakoa. With each passing issue, Wolverine and his fellow mutants are rapidly approaching an all-out war with vampires where the survival of both groups is at stake.

Angel vs Spike: Who Is A Better Buffy the Vampire Slayer Villain? – Screen Rant

Angel and Spike are two of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's most memorable villains, as both have been in love with Buffy. But who's the supreme antagonist?

Villains have two distinct classifications inBuffy the Vampire Slayer;they're either Big Bads with no redeeming qualities, like the First or Glory, or they're the kind of monsters who eventually find redemption, like Angel and Spike. Angel began as an archetypal lone-wolf hero, a vampire with a soul whose dark past as the homicidal maniac Angelus haunted his memories, while Spike began as a two-bit villain whose future in the series allowed him to change his violent destiny.

RELATED:Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Angel vs. Spike: Who Is Better For Buffy?

What makes Angel and Spike particularly dangerous villains then, is their influence on the series' central character the Slayer. Their respective holds on her, in drastically different ways, allow them to manipulate her to a degree that her loved ones, and indeed the whole of Sunnydale can be placed in harm's way. Taking into account their nuance, their capacity for destruction, and their sanguinary past, who is the greater villain inBuffy the Vampire Slayer?

As Angelus, Angel was behind several historical massacres across Europe, ripping jugulars and sucking humans dry with his brood including Darla, Drusilla, and Spike. The acquisition of a soul and the corresponding guilt from his victims was the only thing that stopped his endless cycle of bloodshed.

RELATED:Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 5 Best Spike Episodes (& 5 Best Angel Episodes)

Whenever his brutal vampiric form reappears, such as after physical intimacy with Buffy,Angelus becomes one of the most dangerous creatures of the night the Scoobies have ever encountered. Because he's older and more cunningwith his brutality, he'sworse than the younger and more impulsive Spike.

Angelus sired Drusilla, who in turn sired William the Bloody/Spike, making Angelus Spike's grandfather and ultimately the elder of their vampire brood. Spike took direction from Angelus, and any depraved activity Angelus participated in, Spike was right there beside him.

Spike proved a violent deviant every bit as unpredictable as Angelus, and wouldn't stand in the way of his leader's torturous depravity, ensuring that hundreds of people were hurt at the hands of the two vampires. As Angel told Buffy and the Scoobies in "School Hard," Spike "doesn't stop until everything in his path is dead."

Buffy and Angel have a bond that almost transcends space and time, with the sort of soul-crushing depth of emotion that only vampires and their human lovers seem capable of. Angelus, on the other hand, did numerous things to strain his connection with the Slayer, including mocking her after their first night of intimacy.

Angel knows he can never be with Buffy because of the destructive nature of their relationship, but that doesn't stop him from dangling his affections in front of her from time to time. Even after he left her to go to Los Angeles, he appeared back in Sunnydale in Season 4 and again in Season 7, knowing it would be incredibly difficult for Buffy to see him.

When Spike made his debut appearance in the series in Season 2's episode "School Hard," he did so with a plan to drain Sunnydale. He didn't count on the Slayer and the Scooby Gang, and certainly didn't expect Angel to be advising them about his habits.

RELATED:Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 10 Ways Spike Got Worse And Worse

Spike choosesthe high school's parent-teacher conference night for his official coming out party, where he battles and nearly kills Buffy, until her mother intervenes with a blow to his head. He flees, but vows revenge on all involved.

As Angelus, Angel murdered Jenny Calendar, a computer science teacher at Sunnydale High and the girlfriend of Rupert Giles. She was discovered to be a member of Kalderash, the Romani clan who cursed Angelus with a soul centuries before.

This brutal attack devastated Giles, and nearly got him killed as well when he tried to take revenge on Angelus. Luckily Buffy intervened, but Angel's path of destruction had been vast, as shown in "Amends."

Beginning with his first appearance, when Spike was intent on killing the Slayer, and has actively tried to accomplish the task several different times. Were it not for the chip implanted into his head by the Initiative in Season 4, he may very well have succeeded.

Eventually, Buffy concedes that Spike is relatively harmless, like a neutered animal, but when given free range without his chip, he reverts back to his bloodthirsty ways.

One of the most insidious ways that Angel's villainy appeared was reflected in how much Buffy changed when she was around him. He was over 200 years old and smitten by a high school student, and she sacrificed a certain degree of agency and autonomy to be with him despite the dangers.

RELATED:Buffy the Vampire Slayer: 10 People Buffy Should Have Been With (Other Than Angel or Spike)

She was prepared to build a life around him, until her mother stepped in and informed Angel that he would need to leave because it was the only way that Buffy could have a happy lifeand the world could have its Slayer.

One of the most chilling episodes of the series arrives in Season 6 when Spike forces himself on Buffy in her bathroom, unable to accept that she wants to break off their unhealthy relationship. The means to which heshatters her trust are both pathetic and vile.

The subject matter of the episode "Seeing Red" is depicted asrightfully horrific, but it cements Spike as capable of the mostdespicable of actions against someone he supposedly cared about.

While it pertains more toAngelthan toBuffy the Vampire Slayer,Angel left the latter to focus on the former, and so his characterization continued to a greater degree there. By the end of the series, he brought about apocalyptic levels of catastrophe in Los Angeles, to the point where it was unclear whether or not the city would survive.

Angel waged war against forces of darkness much worse than himself, and in many ways his hubris and audacity contributed to the fall of Wolfram& Hart and the greater Los Angeles community.

Angel may not have appeared on the series as long as Spike, but the impact of his depravity as Angelus can't be denied. Spike grew into an antihero and an equal to Buffy, who was responsible for bringing out more complex sides of her than Angel's character was capable of. Angel not only had a past soaked in blood, but his modern persona was manipulative and selfish.

He purported to care about Buffy to conceal his own self-serving behavior and made her pain about him. He continuously stole her agency and threatened to derail her purpose on more than one occasion. By comparison, Spike's antics were at most annoying and abrasive, while Angel's were lasting and impacting. Because of how much Buffy cared about him, he could hurt her and those she loved the most. Being able to affect the Slayer, whose fortitude is responsible for protecting the world from vampires like him, makes him perhaps the most villainous of all.

Why Buffy The Vampire Slayer Ended After Season 7 (Was It Canceled?) – Screen Rant

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Joss Whedon's cult classic TV show, ended after season 7 after dodging cancellation once before, but why did this happen?

Unfortunately for fans of Joss Whedon's long-running TV show,Buffy the Vampire Slayercame to an end after season 7, but why did it happen? Was it canceled?

Buffy the Vampire Slayerhad a long lifespan, beginning with a 1992 movie starring Kristy Swanson as the titular Slayer before being adapted for a TV series under Whedon's direction in 1997. It effectively dodged the cancellation bullet once before, but switched networks from The WB to UPN. Some fans argue that season 5's finale, "The Gift", should have ended the show, but there was still life left inBuffy, and more adventures to tell according to Whedon, so the show went on. However, as is true of many long-running TV shows, there's often only so much more to give, and it's best to find a natural conclusion and end on a high note, rather than continually moving forward just for the sake of it.

Related: Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Everything That Happened After The Show Ended

Part of the magic ofBuffy the Vampire Slayeris how it never wore out its welcome. Even after the switch to UPN, season 6 took a darker turn that lost some audience members and changed the tone of the show forever. Season 7 was a return to form for Whedon's show, and sawBuffy and her Scooby Gang rallying for one final fightand it felt final. Seven years is a long time for any group of actorsespecially actors who started so young, and were in the early stages of their careers in the beginning ofBuffy the Vampire Slayerto stay committed to a project. This is the primary reason cited for why the show reached its natural conclusion after season 7, especially where star Sarah Michelle Gellar was concerned.

Sarah Michelle Gellar summed it up best in an exclusive interview with EW in 2003:

"Buffy, in this incarnation, is over."

If Gellar was ready to cut ties with the project, it just didn't make sense to continue without her. The casting change between Swanson and Gellar was hardly felt, as there were several years between the movie and the beginnings of the TV show and, over the years, Gellar became the definitive Buffy Summers. While season 5 did kill off Buffy, season 7 let her live to fight another day, yet the goodbye in "Chosen" was felt all the same. Whedon could have continuedBuffy the Vampire Slayer with Faith or through adapting numerous spin-off ideas, which ultimately never came to fruition, but it wouldn't have been worth it.

The seemingly collaborative decision between Whedon and Gellar to end the show was at least done on their terms, unlike the spin-off series,Angel, which was abruptly canceled, and ended with season 5 a year later, in 2004. Season 7 is occasionally criticized for being a weak ending to the show, but in many ways it's a full circle pivot that takes the show back to where it began. The Slayer fights the ultimate evilthe First Eviland ends up sharing her burden with an army of Potential Slayers. Throughout its seven season run,Buffy as a character experienced a lot of growth, though one continuing theme was her feeling of loneliness, of being on her own despite the fact that her season 1 death changed the Slayer line forever.

Buffy the Vampire Slayerdid continue, in a sense, through several "seasons" of comic books, published by Dark Horse Comics. While this tied up some loose ends made by the series and saw additional character growth and futures for many of the show's beloved characters, for many fans, it wasn't the same as watching it play out live on television. Few shows have managed to accomplish whatBuffyhas: an enduring legacy that is still talked about, relevant, and popular almost twenty years after going off the air. There's been discussion of a reboot with Whedon and Monica Owusu-Breen, so it's possible the Slayer will see a new incarnation for the next generation of fans.

Seraph Of The End Season 3: 5 Characters We Want Less Of (& 5 We Want More Of) – Screen Rant

When (or if) the third season of Seraph of the End does air, here are 5 characters we want to see more of, and 5 we can do without.

Released in 2015,Seraph of the Endwas a post-apocalyptic anime adapted from its manga series of the same name by Wit Studio, which ismost notably known as the studio behind producing Attack on Titan. The storytakes placein an alternate reality where a man-made virus has wiped out the majority of humanity, excluding children under the age of 13 who are not affected by the virus. Supernatural creatures referred to as vampires have risen amidst this apocalypse and have taken overwhat little remains of the world.

The first and the second season aired back-to-back in 2015, but ever since then, no indications of the third season have been given. The chances of a sequel slim down further with every passing year, but when or if the third season does air, here are 5 characters we want to see more of, and 5 we can do without.

Like nearly every character in the anime,Mitsuba Sangu is haunted and defined by her tragic, disastrous past. Due to her direct actions and insubordination, the previous squad she was a part of was massacred by the monsters known asFour Horsemen of John.

The repercussions of that event can be seen in her personality as she argues with Yu frequently for his rash behaviors. But underneath it all, she is always standing guard over the well being of her teammates.

The queen of the vampires,Krul Tepes is one of the strongest and highest-ranking Progenitors, which might be difficult to believe from her childish appearance. She was responsible for saving Mika's life, but in the process, she turned him into a vampire against his will.

Although it is shown that she apparently cares about Mika, even going as far as feeding him her own blood on a regular basis, in reality, she only sees him as a pet of sort, and her true objective is and always will be the extermination of humans.

The protagonist of the show,Yu's past is an extremely tragic one and it is what motivates him in his quest to exterminate all vampires from the world. Although he shows signs of arrogance and introversionin the beginning, he eventually warms up to his other teammates and learns to value friendship and teamwork.

The fact that he interacts with his new friends and at the same time balances the emotional trauma of the death of his "family" represents exactly the type of character development that fans like.

Seventh ProgenitorFerid Bathory is one of the evilest and first antagonists introduced in the anime, the vampire who tricked Mika at the beginning of the story and single-handedly slaughtered theHyakuyafamily of orphans.

He likes to talk with people in a gentlemanly way, even with his victims before murdering them which is clear proof of his sadistic andpsychopathic nature. Although he works alongside Mika in the present time, he has never been anything other than trouble for the main protagonists.

Out of all his friends that died at the hands of the vampires, Yu was the closest toMikaela. The two were practically like brothers.

The fact thatMikaela actually survived was unknown to Yu for many years and a big part of the drama in the plot revolves around the two of them getting reacquainted with each other, who proves to be easier said than done asMikaela had turned into a vampire and Yu was a vampire hunter by profession.

Crowley Eusford is technically a lower rankProgenitor thanFerid Bathory, but even taking that into account he is an immensely powerful vampire, and his courage (or over-confidence) is a big part of his strength. He is almost always seen together with fellow noble vampiresHorn Skuld andChess Belle and the three form a fearsome trio.

He was able to hold his own against Yu's demon form, which is supposed to be humanity's trump card against vampires, which shows exactly how dangerous he is.

The main female protagonist of the series,Shinoa is relatively stronger and more experienced than the protagonist Yu (and nearly all the other characters of her age) and she has wielded a Cursed Gear for a much longer length of time.

The importance of her character shows through her sarcastic and comedic personality which lightens the serious tone of the anime at times, and she likes to tease her teammates on a regular basis, especially Yu.

The older brother of theaforementioned vampire queen Krul Tepes,Ashera Tepes is better known by his demon name "Asuramaru". His existence is something of adouble-edged sword in the show. As a demon and cursed gear, he is bound by contract to Yu and provides him with great power which is necessary for the fight against vampires.

But his one and only purpose has always been to take over Yu's body and has tried to do it many times by emotionally manipulating him.

Time and time again Yoichi Saotome has been shown to be the meekest and most gentle out of everyone else in the group, and although this might give off the impression that he is weak the reality is different.

He proved his strength well whenhe failed in his first attempt to obtain a cursed gear and got possessed by a demon but ultimately managed to regain back control of his body, an act that was considered nigh impossible.

Since his first on-screen appearance, Guren has been a mentor to Yuu and a father figure. The commander of the Vampire Extermination Unit's Moon Demon Company, he is an indispensable part of humanity's fight against the vampires and other monsters as a lieutenant colonel of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army.

But at the same time, his act of using Yu as an experiment cannot be ignored, and his resolve to do anything necessary for the survival of humanity might not always be a good thing.

Halloween: Every Horror Movie Reference In John Carpenter’s Original Film – Screen Rant

John Carpenter's Halloween (1978) is filled with references to movies that influenced him. Here is every reference found in the popular thriller.

John Carpenters Halloween is filled with references to horror movies that influenced his career. The 1978 film, co-written by the late Debra Hill, contains obvious visual nods as well as character and story elements paying homage to classic films. Here is every horror movie reference found in Carpenters popular thriller.

Producer Irwin Yablans idea about a group of babysitters being stalked by a maniac was the genesis of Halloween. Originally pitched as The Babysitter Murders, Yablans later came up with the idea of having the action take place on the holiday itself. When it was decided that it might be a good idea to simply call the film Halloween, the rest of the film fell into place. Carpenter and Hill collaborated on the script, placing specific film references throughout and using a couple of classic thrillers as inspiration for their simple, straightforward narrative.

The most obvious, and famous, inspiration for Halloween is Alfred Hitchcocks Psycho (1960). Taking a cue from the kitchen sink approach to the horror and giving their maniac a butcher knife was the least of the parallels, but intentional. Halloweens driven psychiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence) was named directly after John Gavins character in Psycho. Loomis nurse assistant Marion Chambers (Nancy Stephens) is named after both heroine Janet Leighs Marion and a minor supporting character, Mrs. Chambers (Lurene Tuttle). Hill was instrumental in casting Leighs daughter, Jamie Lee Curtis, in the starring role, stressing that the Psycho connection would be an added benefit. However, there are several other influences and references throughout the film that are also noteworthy.

Bob Clarks classic horror film has been given credit with helping to shape the slasher film template popular in the early 80s. What isnt as well known is that Carpenter was a big fan of the film, and spoke directly with Clark about it. Aside from using the holiday as a backdrop for the horror, both films also share an intrepid female protagonist terrorized by a killer in a large home. Jess (Olivia Hussey) also discovers her friends dead bodies spread out on a bed just before coming into contact with the killer. Black Christmas ambiguous ending, with the killer still roaming free, was also a big influence when shaping the climax of Halloween.
