Relying more on deeply chilling horror rather than cheap jump scares, which have become the declining norm for horror movies nowadays,The Babadook is a proper, return-to-form, horror movie that is disturbing and sinister one minute, yet heartfelt and genuinely moving the next. In fact, Id say the Babadook itself is one of the scariest monsters ever created.

Girl House is a pleasing concoction of genre tropes conventionally strung together with the softcore teasing of attractive young women and the hardcore exploits of a bloodthirsty, mask-wearing psychopath on a doom-ridden rampage of murder. Genre fans might not find anything new, but theyll discover plenty to enjoy.
