TheSawfranchise never seems to end, with the next movie in this horror series,Saw 9: The Organ Donorset for May 15, 2020. Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who has directed a total of four movies in the series,Saw 9will feature comedian Chris Rock as a police detective investigating a bunch of seriously gruesome crimes. The reboot will also be based off of an original story by Rock and align closer to a spinoff than a sequel.

One unique addition is that Rocks Sawreboot will definitely have some humor, which is no surprise given the actorsstand-up comedy background.PreviousSawmovies have not been known for their comedy, tending to focusmore on the psychological thrill and drama of antagonist Jigsaws twisted, violent games. However, despite having humor, the reboot will not go into parody territory toward horror genre cliches like theScary Moviefranchise.

According to a report from IGN, Rock reveals his purpose for adding humor into the script: A lot of times I go to a movie or I watch a TV show and I go, Wow, you know, two jokes would have made a big difference in that. Rock explained. I love Saw, but I was like wow, it has almost no humor at all. So, it seemed like a good placegood fertile groundby the way, the new Saw, Ive seen like a rough cut. Its still Sawits bloody, its gory, but theres like a sprinkling of humor here and there. Were not revamping it, its not Scary Movie, its Saw.

Fans of the franchise need not worry.Saw 9will still have its trademark graphic death scenes, traps, gore, and mind games that make the audience grimace, yet still enjoy.
